First off - who said anything about not being free? The game offered to buy coins to play as well - which is the offence. Beta's are not allowed to charge. End of story.

the law was broken - like a scam artist will be charged for their crimes in a court of law, so will consumer frauds. It doesn't matter that the victim was a willing participant in the scam - not one court in the world would dismiss the charges against a law breaker because the victim acted in good faith and without being threatend. The company made a public announcement that it is out of Beta! If it had been in beta not many people would have parted with their money financing a game they thought was good = hence misleading or fraud by deception.

I took great care to inform myself about this talking to a lawyer and advisers that deal with consumer complaint all day before making this post - since I am liable for the content. So I suggest you don't get involved in legal matters unless you are a lawyer for the company. It's time for the Mods to stay out of this as spin doctors for the company.
