Domokomo has a legitimate question. Until this in-game mail went out I had no idea this was a beta either. I would also question this mail:
"We will perform a short period of maintenance in a few hours to launch a formal release of Evony. With guarantees to a 100% data and account integrity, Evony will continue to live on her Free game play model forever. All beta testers will get special gifts within 7 days. Cheers!"
If I am guaranteed 100% data integrity then this would imply anything I have done in the game will be in place after the "live launch." If this is not the case, then their business practices are extremely deceptive and any payments made through Paypal can be disputed.
there is no discussion. you are making very sure of that.
My position as a mod has nothing to do with this. Using it to slander you would be giving you infractions or banning you. But, seeing as you are still within the rules of the board, I can't do that. But you are teetering on borderline "Insulting other members," which is grounds for an infraction.
BBQ, You are not a good moderator. I for one will never take you seriously after what has just occurred in this thread.
I didn't want to get involved in this but... I guess there is no avoiding it. What has BBQ done that warrants comments like this. He is defending a point. Did you ever believe in something?
And besides, Domokomo Neyo is doing the exact same thing by using BBQ's position of Moderator against him. Mods have their own opinions too, they are normal people, not computers. If BBQ wasn't a mod, would you have acted in the same fashion defending yourself Domokomo Neyo? Ask yourself that question.
EDIT: Also, it is true what BBQ has said about Domokomo Neyo. Wherever he goes fights inevitably spring up.

Do you have any more information about that Sega UK lawsuit, like what it was about? I couldn't find anything about it yet.
I do not know the laws just yet except to say that it is not Illegal to charge for beta software. It is a common, and vile underhanded sneaky, practice to release software as beta to protect yourself when your product causes damages. Microsoft has released several of it's latest products (including Vista I believe) with a notice that the software was still Beta and as such any damages caused by it are your own fault.
The laws for Beta software are very specific, which is why I would like to read more about that Sega UK case so I can find out what the UK's laws are and know if UMGE is actually breaking them by giving people an option to spend money to improve the game.
I do agree that UMGE has not done a good job at telling everyone whether Civony is a Beta game or not and you would probably win a false advertising case. Check their terms of use contract to make sure it doesn't mention beta, otherwise you did agree that you had read and understood those terms.

I moved this thread out of server 1 because it doesn't belong there.
They did not CHARGE you anything to play. They offered an enhancement to your enjoyment. Have you enjoyed yourself so far? Would you continue to enjoy yourself with the "official" release, assuming nothing really changes and all of your data is retained?
My guess is yes. The next question is then, who cares what they call it? They could have called it a chicken leg for all it matters.
Why make this an issue? I guess I don't understand what the big deal is.
Also keep it civil.
