well, I will give you just one for now...
Adamstown maryland and the surrounding area was once owned by Charles Carroll of carrollton manner, who was one of the signers of the declaration of independance. He was the only catholic to sign the document, and the longest-lived signer of the document. He was also a member of the US senate!
EDIT: oh yeah, he is also mentioned in my state song!
