Lord Ken, I will try to give you some constructive advice without being too negative, OK?

There are two ways to get food: Produce your own, and raid for it.

You can increase production by building and upgrading farms, but there is a limit to how many farms. You can research agriculture, but that only goes up to level 10. You can capture lakes, but you can only hold up to 10 of them. Your mayor will increase your production, but only a fraction of what you need.

My best city produces 1.3 million food per hour, but this is not enough to feed all of my troops.

Production is limited.

The second way, raiding, is almost unlimited. It is only limited by the number cities within attacking range of your city, and how often you are online to send out troops.

If all I do is raid the handfull of level 5 barbarian towns next to mine, I can collect 80 million food in about an hour. That is ten raids with an average of 30 minute trip each way. In reality, some trips are shorter and I send those troops out twice.

The barbarian towns reset 3 times a day, so if all I do is log in every 8 hours, send out my raiding parties, and log off, I collect 240 million food per city each day. That is almost 10X my city's production (and that is my best city).

I can gain even more food each day with raids on higher level 8-10 barbarians near me, these are more serious attacks with some troop loss, but I can gain 100's of millions in less than an hour. I usually only do this every couple of days, but some players do it more regularly.

There is also raiding other players, of course, and since this is a war game my alliance does this regularly.

So you should see that the level of food production in your city is the least of your production, and you should not let this hold you back from creating more troops. Troops don't exist in this game solely for the purpose of sitting around, they actually work for a living, under your direction, collecting their own food for their support, and collecting more resources to replace losses.

What you are describing in your original post is a static situation, with a fixed amount of production supporting a fixed amount of troops, and the troops are basicly just sitting there. The game is intended to be dynamic with all of these values in constant flux.
