Default Just harmless fun? or something more serious

For all you boneheads out there who think that doing this kind of stuff:

    http://bbs.evony.com/showthread.php?p=653082#post653082

is funny and makes you clever you might want to reconsider.

What that person did is called a "Denial of service attack" and is considered a crime in most countries.
Do yourselves a favor and dont risk getting yourselves into real life trouble over what you think is just a clever internet stunt.

    Cool

Seeing as no one has been arrested yet, I'd say that nobody cares.

Did you know that it's also illegal to go five miles over the speed limit?

So what will you do when they call your name and you're not ready to go?
Everyone will stare at you and tell you what you know
That you're in too deep and you can't quite keep your secrets, one and all

Hey, feel free to prove me wrong. I love watching a good court against...well, if it's associated with Evony, it's usually entertaining, to say the least.. I'm just saying, I know some people who think that, for example, Blizzard is going to get sued for having a raptor as a troll mount in World of Warcraft ((Not even kidding....they thought it was plagiarism)), and so I have a bit of a short fuse when people talk about legal actions because of video games.

Everything about this post is so ignorant and uninformed I`m not even going to try to explain the obvious flaws with it and with the thinking process that went into writing it.
If you are just going to condon, rationalize and encourage criminal activity, then I`m going to have to ask you to not post in my thread again.

I don't condone criminal activity, I simply realize that there is nothing I can do personally to prevent it apart from refraining from it myself. Seeing as I do that already, I take the opportunity to look for the humor.

...... still this isnt something to joke about.. as stated above this is a crime but its not a normal crime. at least not in my country.. it is cosidered 2 things.. a federal crime and an act of cyber terrorism.... i know stupid to classify it as such but thats wat it is as of an act passed a couple years ago under the last president

It was pretty funny, but I'd be horribly mad if it happened to me. But in all seriousness, it's not that big of a deal.

I`m not trying to prove anything I`m merely trying to point out to people who may not know, that denial of service attacks like the one reported in that thread may just seem like harmless fun but they are not only disruptive to the game, they are also illegal.

Violating the law just because you feel that your chances of getting caught are slim doesnt make your activity any less illegal.
obviously this thread wont have any effect on people who choose to violate laws based on the probability of them getting caught.

people who choose to obey the law because its the moral thing to do will modify their behavior when it is brought to their attention that what they did or are doing is illegal, those are the type of people who will benefit from this thread.
perhaps the person in that thread thought that they were just spamming and didnt know that, that kind of "spamming" is illegal.perhaps there are others out there that are thinking of doing the same thing, not knowing that it is illegal, but after seeing this thread they will now know it is illegal and they will choose not to do it based on their own moral convictions.

It may surprise you to know that some people actually do try to obey the laws because it is the right thing to do, not because they think there is a high probability of being caught if they dont obey them.
