Secret to Farming for medals

so i have spent most of today trying to farm medals over 11 diff valleys, 4 of them were lvl10's, 3 of which were flats, 1 grassland, 2 lvl9's, 1 flat, 1 lake, 4 lvl7 valleys, 3 flats, 1 swamp, and one lvl5 flat (someone in my alliance who recently lvl'd up to marquis from knight said that he was attacking lvl5, 6, & 10 valleys, just sending 15k archers and 10k warriors on the lvl 5 and 6 valleys, figured i'd give it a shot but no other lvl5's or 6's near me, lol).

All but a cross & the nation where from the flats, so, where are people getting there rose medals from, since i believe i have now received 5 non rose medals from flats in total (1 more lion than whats on there), almost half the amt of none rose said were received from flats on the excel sheet.

Flats also seem to have a worse % for medal drop rate compared to other valleys i have plundered from in the past, roughly 10% on flats to what seems close to 1/3rd on desserts, hills, and grasslands. Anyone else getting similar results?

Also, the cross was gotten on the third attack on the grassland, the nation was on the first attack on a lvl10 hill i found about an hr ago. Roughly 5 or 6 attacks to 2 medals.

Just to be clear, about 10 of the 70 attacks listed above where on valleys other than flatlands.
