Thread: What Would You Like To See In AGE II

Some things that I would like to see in Age II:

    1) The ability to rearange your buildings
    2) Would like to be able to sell excess medals/items on the market for game coin or be able to trade up. i.e. can trade 2 rose medals for one lion medal etc.
    3) A zoom option in "map" view. So a player could zoom out and scroll around.
    4) A Notes tab that would give me the ability to write notes for myself, like what time I farmed a particular npc, or just general notes about the game or other players.
    5) It would be nice if you could be notified if an alliance member was being attacked other than having to check war reports.
    6) There definatley needs to be a change in feeding large armies. I like the idea of having NPC's pay taxes or tributes similar to conquoring valleys. maybe it could be an adjustable "tax rate", so if you required too much of them, they would revolt and would attack you (just a thought).

These are just a few. I will add more as they come to me. I'm sure I will get ripped apart for some of these, but whatever.
Any way you look at it...... it's still a game.

its a little big but maybe they could give you the option 2 view battles animated and have a time period where they are fighting that will be depended on how big the armies are

to be able to build more than one building at a time, maybe even an item you could get that allows you to build more than one building for like one hour, but still it would allow if you're building two to finish both, even if the time is up.

I have to agree with less servers, really, but there's a few other things I wouldn't mind seeing, too.

The Wheel & Resource Gains: Instead of giving the resources to whichever city is selected, make an item worth that amount of resources, and put it in "My Items," so we can use it whenever we need it.

Valleys: The way they boost production is fine, but swamps/grasslands/lakes need to be evened out in a bad way. 32% for a lake, 24% for a swamp, and 12% for a grassland? Why should grasslands give less food production than a lake? Even if they're all averaged out at 25%, that'd be better.

NPC Cities: NPCs should have different city layouts. Instead of them all being the same, differing only by the number of resource fields (with 10s all being exactly the same..) maybe someone could come up with a template for half a dozen different cities, and when the city is abandoned, it could pick one from the template. Example templates: A farm-only city with lots of cottages; a sawmill and farm city with 12 cottages/12 barracks; an iron heavy city with a lot of barracks; a balanced city with 10 of everything, balanced cottages/barracks, etc.

Units & Their Counters: Units need to properly attack their counters. Meaning pikes should actively target cav before archers/swords, swords should target archers, archers should target infantry, etc. It doesn't make much sense when you attack 4k cav with 20k archers and 10k pikes, and the opposing cav skips right past your pikemen (which are their counter) to kill your archers.

Warehouses: Warehouses, as they are, are quite obviously useless. They should either be required (ie you can only hold x resources depending on the level of your warehouse), or be removed. I wouldn't mind the former, since it will slow resource hoarding, massive armies, etc, but privateering would need to be tweaked, I would think.

New Building - Training Ground: Until you can farm NPCs and such, it's almost painfully slow to level up heroes. The training ground would let two heroes (and their troops) spar against each other, for experience. Heroes wouldn't lose loyalty if they lost, but wounded troops would be sent to the medic camp and would need healing (at a reduced cost).

New Building - Apothecary: I think it would be nice to see an apothecary (with a healer/herbalist unit) as well, some place you could buy potions/poultices/etc to improve the status of your troops. They wouldn't be as good as the war horn/corselet, but could improve, say, the life of your army, their speed, etc, for either a set duration or for the next march.

New Unit: Healer/Herbalist - The unit that goes along with the apothecary, and 1 would be needed for so many troops, ie 1 for 1000. The more herbalists you have, the greater the effect of the poultices and potions.

Defensive Trebuchets: These should not be one-time defenses, but rather permanent siege defenses, built and set up inside the walls, and able to contribute to every battle until they're destroyed. As a side twist, perhaps they could use stone from the stockpile to be able to join the defense.

    New Siege Weapons:
Trebuchets - We should be able to build slightly less efficient trebuchets (as they require mobility) to use to siege cities and such with. They require a great deal of lumber to construct, and a crew of several workers/horses (say, 5 pop?) to construct, but are more effective than catapults. The only downside is, they are easily overrun if they are not adequately protected.

Mantlets - Mantlets are basically small, portable wooden walls, and they can be used to shield foot soldiers from archers, boiling oil, rocks thrown by defenders, etc. They're cheap to produce, can be carried by two troops, and would add to the overall defense vs archers when used in an attack.

    New City Defense:
Pitch Ditch - We don't really have pitch, but there's swamps, and swamp oil can be used to create a ditch, which can be triggered by a defending archer to create a wall of flame, that would prevent infantry and cavalry from breaching the walls for up to, say, an hour, thus requiring the use of siege weapons, or for the attacker to return later. I already know people would abuse the hell out of that by sending one scout to set it off, then attacking later, so it would have to be triggered by attacks that were actually big enough to warrant it - say at least 50,000 archers/swords/etc, no scouts/warriors/workers setting off the defenses.

I'm sure there's more that I can come up with, given all of the games I've played, but I'm going to stop here.

I personally think gold needs to come into use. Everyone has amassed gold and you barely use it. I think troops should use both food and gold, after all every army gets paid.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

i would like to see an way to sell items. and an easier way to get medals. i think that such modifcations in a version 2 would increase the number of players because it lowers frustation. heck you dont even have to make a sell item thing just give us a way to get coins like at the market you can buy 1 coin for 100k gold or something (it will be give high level players a way to use their gold after they have researched all the techs in the game), i would also like a tech that will permit multiple building in the same city, even if it would be very expensive i still believe it would be a very popular modification.
