Fix the issues with age 1... then, for age 2:
I would dearly *love* to see an actual *sensible* combat system. Tactical deployment of units, not just "everybody rush the walls"..
Ranged Siege weapons in an actual deployment would only move within range of counterbattery fire if commanded by an idiot, or if they are able to withdraw before a return barrage is launched.
Walls do not automagically regenerate their strength after every wave of attacks...
Joint strike operations should be possible..
Meat shields are generally deployed as the first advancing wave... archers provide cover fire, cavalry functions as a "heavy strike", either on the flanks, up the center, etc, and also as a relief force. Pikemen are positioned with an assault or with the archers/siege engines to prevent cavalry flanking maneuvers...
It's probably too much to ask to enable scouts to drop rotting camel heads into the enemy's wells on a successful infiltration... but disease *was* a major siege breaker in such times....
You know.. the ability to use some tactics besides "Get em!"...
