How to survive in a culture of bullying?

so, i mail this new guy next to me and thank him for creating a lvl10 npc that i had forgotten to do in time.

the response was an immediate threat to leave. nice guy i thought.
then followed a series of private chats where i explained that i didn't have the money to buy the necessary teleports. his reply, you're between a rock and a hard place.

so later i have an idea and send a mail:

    and got this reply:

so what can i do lol?
if i join risen, i'm encouraging their bullying tactics to gain members.
if i quit my alliance they'll attack.
if i stay in my alliance they'll attack.
there are no other alliances in this area.
    i have no teleports.

honestly, i have never in my life played a game that has such a culture of bullying at its heart. it brings out the worst of the worst in people. it's evil lol

Join an alliance that's friendly with Risen.

    that's it

yknow, the reason i joined samurai was because they were friends with unity, and unity was liberty's sister (risen was liberty and experts). so i tried to do that in the first place.

now i just need to find an alliance this IS allies with risen, not just friendly with them.

    thanks

    this is the reply:

try to join his alliance, find out who their enemies are and then give their enemies all the info that you can get on them, in other words try to join then be a spy and help their enemies destroy them.
It is good that war is so terrible or we should grow too fond of it

    Good old friesland.

First of all, you're accepting to be bullied. Take the aggressive stance.

If doing that doesn't work, look to stronger players for help. It's all about who you know.

    couple of thoughts..

    1. War games tend to attract aggressive players. This kind of situation isn't that unusual.

    2. By sending all these mails, you've essentially identified yourself as "easy meat" to a predator. That's one thing I found out when I started.. you absolutely *cannot* appeal to most people's sense of decency here, simply because many of them don't have one. Any time you communicate, you need to try to do so from a position of strength. Not one of aggression, particularly, but strength. Doubt it'll have much effect now, but just somethin to keep in mind for the future.

    3. Koolaid has the right of it.. It *is* all about who you know. Strong friends can help immensely... but even more than that..

    4. Finding the right alliance to be in is paramount. If your alliance is unwilling or unable to work together to defend its members, then you're likely not in the right alliance. I know that's a bit harsh sounding, but it's kind of the way of things. A good alliance is like a well crafted shirt of chainmail armor.. each link needs to be strong on it's own, but when you put a bunch of them together, they collectively create something much stronger. In a basic chainmail weave, each link has at least 4 others supporting it, and the numbers only go up from there. The tighter knit the mail is, the more protected the wearer... Similarly, the tighter-knit an alliance is, the more protected each member.

    5. Defense! Level 10 walls with 18k AT's can be something of a deterrent, unless you're in a late-stage server. Open gates with 50-100k+ scouts can protect against scouting.. and many people are reluctant to attack blind. Jack up your embassy, so that more alliance members can reinforce you if attacked.

One of my friends just weathered an attack by 1.2 million archers plus an assortment of other troops.. 17 waves. Wiped them all out. How? Because there's a heavy bias in the game mechanics towards defenders... An attacker can only throw 125k units at once... but you can have upwards of 1m defenders to meet those 125k waves. In this case, his alliance mates sent enough troops that there were almost 800k archers garrisoned in his city. Teamwork is powerful.

Join Risen, then as time goes on find more people that were forced to join like you were. Start a revolution from within their own ranks.

I have done this before and split an alliance in two, it weakened the original and made them a target by everyone. The whole time I was in their alliance I was making contacts with other alliances so that I had plenty of allies by the time I revolted.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!
