Just so I understand you clearly:
What you are saying is that it's ok for Joe to create several separate accounts on the same server, and then reinforce himself with these various accounts? And this is "no different" than being separate players in the same alliance?
You say "watch the way they act.." Do you have any clue the scope of the job you are asking? I Admin a text-based game, with a player base of around 50k...that is a nightmare of going through logs to look for behavior patterns, but I do it. This game is on a scale that far outweighs that...in short, checking each and every suspected multi account for behavior patterns would take days...per account...before a game mod could even begin to guess if those accounts are all being run by Joe, or if the entire Jones family is in fact actually playing separately.
In short, the only way to provide fair play, while still allowing families to play at all, is to have a same-IP resource/sharing block. Sorry, but...it is the only way.
