    Default The infamous ads

I have seen the ads and didn't think much about them. My husband actually joined because of one of them, then proceeded to pester me to death until I joined. Now we are both addicted and get absolutely nothing done.

I know that mods can do nothing about the ads, but if you won't let us voice our opinions about how we dislike the ads, then how are the people responsible for the advertising campaign going to get the message?

My son was playing games online today and told me that everywhere he went he saw an ad for Evony. I have parental controls on his computer, and I can control which sites he goes to, but I can't control the ads on the sites. The ads are a little disturbing when you think about children seeing them. Those particular ads have nothing to do with the game anyway. Although I have to admit it is kind of fun to watch world chat and see all the people asking where the girl is. Or rather where that one certain part of the girl's anatomy is.

It's not that they won't let anyone voice their opinion, it's that people make thread after thread about it. The staff has said it is no longer allowed as a topic because of how people behaved themselves in the past about it. However they never said you could not voice your opinion about it as long as you stay within the forum rules.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Obviously the mods need to maintain order on the message boards, but it is kind of hypocritical to make an obviously inflammatory advertising campaign and then be upset when it gets a rowdy reaction.

For a lot of other in game problems, you can say "well if you don't like it, you don't have to play." which is perfectly valid. But with the ads, you are subjected to adult content whether you like it or not.

As stated in previous threads concerning this; Evony has two marketing campaigns. One is for non-family friendly sites as defined by the site owners. The other is for all other sites which are family friendly.
