First of all, I really dont care, I haven't paid a cent and I'm a newb in evony so this isn't hurting me one bit, but I do understand the complaints people have because it's going to cost the a lot (armies, food, whatever, etc.) because of this UNSCHEDULED extensive downtime. What I'm talking about is common business courtesy. Say for example you have a membership to a country club that's open 24/7 365 days a year that costs a good bit of money, so one day you decide to take the day off work (so you're missing a day's pay), lounge around the house a bit and then go golfing. So you get to the country club and it's shut down for green maintenance for the whole day. Then you ask, "well why wasn't i notified, now I just missed out on 500 dollars I would've made at work but I took off so I could play golf at the country club I pay for". If they'd sent him a notice, it would've been just fine. Evony doesn't deserve any excuses on this one, it could've taken a 4 yr old to handle this whole PR blunder, it really shows how unorganized the people that run this really are. Again, nothing wrong with the maintenance, but as someone who used to run a rack of servers (24/7 uptime) for a gov't defense contractor, when you do a maintenance routine it's a planned out process that requires notification to all users. Evony should know better than to spring this by surprise with no fail safes, that is just sloppy. It's like a bunch of middles school kids put this together and one of their servers in their garage just went out. With the amount of money this thing is raking in the customers deserve and should demand the courtesy and support for what they are paying for. Also what kind of business sense does it portray of the future of this game to would-be paying customers such as myself. Bad bad business...that's what I'm saying. We could all be watching netflix or something while the maintenance that we were already informed about is going on, instead we all wasted our days on these dead end forums...
I could not agree more. I play silly little social network games that offer more support, as I am always forewarned about pending outages. Yes, networks need maintenance downtime; however, that should not be at the expense of players. If my armies suffer do to your system maintenance, then I expext to be compensated.
My 2 cents as a player are the system mail thing is a good idea but only for the extended maintenances as getting a mail everyday for a 15minute maitenance would just be redundant.
As a mod however it has been explained that supermassive armys that require millions of food an hour were never the intention of the developer and are purely the result of overagressive players, so dont get your hopes up about compensation of any kind for you losing your troops, also as Foxy has pointed out this had to be expected at somepoint

OUT OF BASIC YAAY!!! Now I'm in tech school
Calm Down??? Some people work and pay bills and in hard times give money to a game site that they saved so they can further enjoy the game...And then they watch as the money they invested gets wasted because the server to the game stays off for over 5 hours. The Better Business Bureau will be real interested to see how company representitives respond to "Customers grievances".
I am a player of this game and have been trying to log in for 6 and a half hours, only to get to 18% and have it stop. This is very frustrating as an alliance mate of mine is able to log in to my account with no problems. May I ask how long this break is going to take?
what i want to know is how am i hearing about SOME people being able to log in...
what kind of maintenance is this? It doesn't sound routine, why would players be able to log in if they were repairing the server...that makes no sense whatsoever
