Broke @$5 Game Mechanics (or how to ruin a good idea)
I'm sure that by now at least one or two players besides myself have noticed a few of the flaws in the game play. I'm not sure if this little rant belongs in the bug reports or the suggestions or what have you, so "General" seemed like a good place to put it.
Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy certain aspects of gameplay in "Evony," but there are a few things that really bother me.
1) Stupidity system for attacks: I'm not sure exactly why the developers found it necessary to assume that your hero would lead the troops under his or her command to a painful and humiliating death, but apparently "tactics" haven't been evolved in the world of Evony yet. I can deal with taking heavy losses if I bring swords agains bows or cav against pikes, but the calculation base doesn't seem to get any smarter for mixed unit battles. Sorry, but I'm not inclined to run my cav straight up the middle onto pikes if I'm commanding... yet for some reason thats the way the computer calculates apparently. (just an example)
2) 96 hour attack time: This probably qualifies as an exploit, but then again, I think the truce item is kind of stupid personally anyway, but if you ARE having a problem with someone popping a truce while you are reorganizing simply send one hero with a worker at them and give the poor soul a 4 day vacation in the woods camping. Thats right, 1 worker can carry enough food to feed himself for roughly 96 hours so set 1 worker to attack with a 4 day camp on him and you won't have to worry about truce being called for a bit.
3) Travel time vs. comforting time: I actually kind of like the idea of comfortings as a game mechanic, but there is something about them that really bugs me, and thats the frequency with which they are available relative to travel times. You can comfort every 15 minutes yet it takes my fastest combat units about 1 minute to move a map square and more than 6 minutes for say a Cat or Ram to move the same distance. So if my target is 2 squares away he has time to do 2 comfortings before my rams can hit a secont time (attack, comfort, 12 minutes home 3 minutes back comfort 9 more minutes to target) That in conjuntion with #4 is really annoying
4) The infinite warehouse/market: if this is WADI (working as developers inteded) then UMGE can go take a flying **** in my opinion. Basically, the busted *** market that allows you to hide things from raiders negates the strategic importance of warehouses as well as the privateering technology. Not TOTALLY, but enough that it makes the game incredibly frustrating to play. IF I can store an infinite amount of resources in the market, I'd be stupid not to even at the 10% fee or whatever it is for market. Therr is nothing an attacking player can do except stand outside and shake his fist angrily.
5) Keep on knocking but you can't come in: What is this BS that I can't get into an oponents city to rape and pillage to my hearts content unless he "opens the gates." How about this... yes, you can hide inside your city with the gates closed, but you produce NO FOOD during that time. Obviously if your gates are closed, your little farmers aren't scurrying back and forth with cartloads of goods. Give the game some more seigelike realism. Better yet, if the gates are closed... no food production for 10 minutes from the time they reopen and no reinforcements.

x4
yes you against the world what if your alliance help you as 4 -10 moving to same target you think market warehouse will save oponent ?
1man army cant survive for too long in civony

Might be true that an alliance can win that fight, but it doesn't make it "not broken." The fact of the matter is, if you have to run your troops cross country and dump a ton of food to get them there and then truck home with no loot... well, you're going to lose in the long run. It creates a logistical nightmare and gives a huge advantage to the home team that the designers never intended or they wouldn't have included Privateeing in the first place.

wow whats with the butt kissing on the fourms all about, i agree the battel system is completely wrong, there is basicaly no point of building stronger units other then just for show. YOU ARE COMPLETELY RIGHT BE UPSET. how can anything get done if you got a bunch of lips on butts and not looking at what is directly happining infront of your faces. I hear you on this one and i am going to tell you that you are right about the battle system, ive had armies of cats, wipped out by warriors??>?? the picture is a person with a pitch fork, so some farmer with a pitch fork is going to wipe out my mounted trained warriors. GIVE ME A BRAKE AND IF YOU WANT MONEY FOR A GAME EARN IT. CAN I GET AN AMEN!!!!
