Thread: Closing Threads

  1. #1

    Closing Threads

Lately I've noticed that alot of threads are being closed, many more than what it used to be. Is there a reason for this? Threads shouldn't be getting closed as often as they are. Why not allow people the freedom to go back and respond to a thread they feel they can give viable feedback on?

So mods, please don't get trigger happy with thread closing, thanks.

They close threads because they become a place to complain and because they are almost always repeats of another thread. Hope that helps with your question

Mods often close threads because there is a lot of spamming going on or like KingAle said that thread has already been made.
    I am far cry....

    I came with nothing....

    10 years later....

    I still have nothing....

please rep me if i helped you, or just because you like me. If you don't know how to do this click the scales at the top right of this post.

I've noticed a lot of threads being closed bc they are "old"

It's just new mods getting used to the new powers, everything will balance out soon enough.

BBQ is right (miss you as a mod dude!!) we have some new additions.

Normally a closed thread is only because it turned into a flame war, went completely off track and half the messages are unrelated to the topic it started with, or as Kingale said we have multiples of the same thread. Normally with multiples I merge the threads though, sorry to anyone if that messes them up!

If you see a thread "closed" because it's old or for a reason that doesn't makes sense - message the mod who closed it and ask that it be re-opened (politely stating your case of course lol).

I've noticed a lot of closed threads, deleted threads, and people being banned or suspended. Some GOOD people being banned/suspended!!!! Seems there is some over zealous person(s) banning people out there.

Do not forget that this is a business, if something is deemed disruptive to the business threads will get closed and people will get suspended or banned. This forum is here as a tool for the players of the game and not as their personal site to be abused and used however they wish.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Do not forget that the business has created a place where the people of this community can gather and have some fun together.

I have spoken on a few occasions with your wife and she has said to me that whatever we spoke about in our private mails, could not be used against me on this forum.

With regards to that, can you not understand the problems that members of this community have with the fact that one of us has been banned for something that apparently happened on a third party website and not on the site of the business? Can you not understand that the members of this community feel that they are declared free to shoot at will, no matter where they are and what they say?

Here is what I think Evony is missing, and it is the quintessential element to true success. What is good for the business is not necessarily good for the community... but what is good for the community is ALWAYS good for business.

A level of free speech needs to be returned to these forums, in order for many of the best posters (the ones not already suspended or permabanned) to want to remain here, imho.
