I understand that you are all upset about losing a friend on these forums. I understand that he was very popular. I know you want an explanation, and I do feel your frustration, but everything that has happened on these forums (the rioting, the protests, the petitions, the polls, the suggestions of a court, the explosion of multis, etc.) has been hugely counterproductive and has resulted in not a few of you receiving suspensions.

I am going to tell you everything I possibly can, and I'll try to address all the things said so far on this topic. I will NOT entertain questions. What I say here is all I CAN say, and that's the end of it.
Not many of us care of they whys buts or ands of the situation, what we DO care about is that he was banned for what happened in A NON EVONY RELATED WEBPAGE.... that's the reason why people are so annoyed. He didn't do anything to warrant it on the FORUMS it was off-site so why ban ?

    1) Evony is a privately owned company. They operate a business. This forum is owned by Evony and is maintained as a benefit to the players of the game that the business runs. It isn't "happy happy playland" (to quote a rep), it isn't your personal blog, it isn't owned or run by the people who post here no matter how high their post count. It isn't run by majority rules or elections or polls. It is run by Evony, LLC. in the manner they feel benefits the majority of their customers and best serves the purpose of the forum.
If cover ups, mass deletions, ignoring your player base, really really really ignoring your player base, handing our infractions/bans/suspensions for the most trival of offenses is how they feel benefits this community.... well there is no hope for this forum
    2) There is nothing "illegal" about a moderator deleting/closing a thread on this forum no matter what it is in it. It isn't an abuse of power for moderators to suspend people who are instigating. It is not the moderators' fault that they are following the directions they are given.
What ARE the directions ? From what we can see last month the mods have gone completely off the reservation, most of the mods are from newer servers, some of us were here on Day 1.... t'was MUCH more relaxed back then. Nowadays the simplest "Evony Devs do a bad job" warrants a "Disrespect of Authority" <<<--- Read that again that's an infraction able offence ! If you wish us to stop infracting then your going to have to tell us what is an intractable offence.

My server leader was banned "Dark Brady" one of the most helpful people on the guide forums for informing a mod that they have rules too.... that warranted a ban. Your guidelines for banning have gotten so large now that everyone is getting them....... for over 5 months i have not received 1 infraction, in the last week i received 2 from the same mod...... i have not under gone any major personality changes so therefore it MUST be your new guidelines.

    3) The mods didn't ban Milonius. The mods didn't get a say in it. The mods were told after the fact and only given enough information to allow them to do their job. The mods can't reverse the ban. The mods can't tell you the small amount of information they have been given. LAY OFF THE GREEN NAMES. They're good people and they don't deserve the grief you've been piling on them.
Well then the mods should just say that, they didn't they said "None of your business" or other varies of that theme. And again it was for the fact he was banned for not doing anything wrong on the forums on a site that has plastered all over it NOT RELATED TO EVONY.COM that has people up in arms.

    4) When someone, anyone, breaks the rules set out by Evony, it is within Evony's power to choose to deny that person further access to the site. This is an action reserved for the most severe of infractions or for people who are serial offenders. For those who have broken rules time and time again, and collected enough infractions and warnings to wallpaper a home, and then continue to commit severe violations of our rules, there comes a point where Evony needs to say "Enough" and tell those people they are no longer welcome here.
That's fine except over the last month or two your guidelines have well and truly walked off the reservation. When people here for 6-8 months suddenly start being banned/suspended surely must strike you as ODD. As said make a list, clearly the old one is no good as ye have added about a 100 new infractable offences.

    8) Ban evasion is serious. It means you have absolutely no respect for our rules, and it only reinforces the fact that we were right to ban/suspend you in the first place. It reduces your chances for a reversal to zero. It also drastically reduces the chances that the staff will want to sit down and talk to you. You have email options available to contact the reps with any questions you have about actions on the forums. I would suggest you make use of them.
This has to be a wind up ? We cannot get the Dev's attention on this forum OR via PM even if we sent 1,000,000 messages take a look at the Harressment/Bug Report/ Tech Support area .... your honestly going to tell me to expect a response ??

Every action has a re-action, or in this case your in-action provokes an action from people in order to be heard. Simple enough really.
    10) I understand that this is the internet, but do all of you understand that what happens on the internet has consequences in the real world? If you hack into the Pentagon's computers, you are gonna get a visit from the FBI. If you cyber-stalk someone, you are going to be arrested. If you post obscene material on your facebook page, you may lose out on jobs because a prospective employer googled you. I can't stress this enough: WHAT YOU DO HERE ON THE INTERNET HAS REAL WORLD CONSEQUENCES. Hand in hand with that goes: YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS.

If you want to cause trouble on the internet, accept the fact that there is going to be some fallout from that and it may well touch you in RL. With some luck, all that happens is that you are no longer welcome on one of the billions and billions of websites out there. If that's all that happens, consider yourself lucky and move on. Find another site.
Just to be clear, this is a game with made up names........ where people come to relax and enjoy it. Banning people for causing trouble is great if you would ban the right people ! You have banned or infracted in the last 24 hrs people who boggles people's minds how on earth it would be possible.

Not just us the people that need to take stock of this situation, you lot do to.

Aye i know only too well an infraction / suspension / ban is coming down the line.

But when it gets to the stage where the simplest deviation from praising Evony to the hilt warrants an infraction it's getting beyond a joke.

I remember the days we could mock Dawnseeker freely and he would return the barbs just as lively, these days simply saying "Mods have rules to" warrants a 2 day suspension.

Something has gone majorly wrong on these forums, i know the explosion of growth has led to some crackdown on negativity, but when the game itself continually breaks down or ceases to work, it IS going to breed it.

Thalin was always the most sensible and level headed Dev ever period, i mailed him this link to come have his say, i know this is an international server but when one cannot express even the slightest opinion not praising the game it is getting to the stage of major censorship.... not a route i'm sure any forum wishes to walk down.

Here's hoping it survives long enough for him to take a look.

You have always been the most level headed Dev on these forums, when someone politely addresses a situation, you can always be found providing an answer.

In this case we need one, if you could take a look at the link i'm sure a majority of the forum would be most appreciative.

    Thanking you.

+1 rep from me too.... I already had my thread related to this topic deleted and an official warning... I don't think they are done closing threads or banning people... I just wonder who will be left by tonight.

    Hi there.

I think constructive feedback in a polite manner is always helpful to a company, and I know I've received a few nuggets of gold to me from a few players that I've taken to heart. Also, it's a good sign of the closeness of our player community when one player is removed for now and his friends and fellow players feel a loss and desire to have him back. But there is on the flip side a need to exercise moderation and not try causing problems such as making multiple accounts, posting the same thing over and over again, and generally trying to make the forum moderators volunteer time as difficult as possible.

As standard, we do not talk about administration matters taken on players, I don't see any reason to have a name and shame list and while victims and our playerbase needs to be protected, at the same time I don't see the need to make those who abuse the rules into villains. It is counterproductive because we give each player the ability to appeal a ruling made on them, and in some specific times we've reversed a ruling (or in my case, I've apologised).

I have seen a marked effort to create multiple accounts, post across the boards and generally spam everywhere to make a difficult job for the volunteer team. That is not the type of thing we need in this community which I'm sure you would agree. Instead, I'd like to see the moderators have the time to answer questions and generally make this a continued great place to collaboratively work on issues, thoughts and have a good time.

Milonius has the ability to raise an appeal which I'll look at. So far, I've yet to see an appeal come to me from him.
