Edu, Thanksgiving was first celebrated by the pilgrims when the came to America. They gave thanks for the land (Hence Thanksgiving) And The Food.

Thanksgiving is a time where you eat, celebrate, and thank everything that life has given you, Such as family, food, shelter... anything you are thankful for in life. Like Arumen said, your family comes together on Thanksgiving for a big dinner.

well in my opinion, no christmas before thanksgiving >:[ thanksgiving is my favorite holiday for a reason. i love food lol

Actually, its a celebration of when the Natives shared their food with the starving and lost people who'd made the pilgrimage to what became the United States.

Hmm.... First the Natives SHARE the food with the White man, then the White man rapes and kills them and steals their land, as well as raping their customs and culture. And don't forget the slavery.

But aside from that, I agree, no mention of Christmas until at least a week into December.
Unfortunately, with such a massively commercialized holiday, I'm blasted with it everywhere I go as early as Halloween.
