Because of feedback from the community about the upcoming server change that would disallow multiple accounts from the same computer,
we have decided to postpone this change until we can implement a better solution. It was never our intention to alienate or disenfranchise any players, but to prevent exploitation of the system.
Just to be clear: it is acceptable for
different people to play different accounts on the same computer. It is not acceptable for a single person to play multiple accounts for any reason.
Thanks to your feedback, we have reached a solution that we think everyone will find acceptable:
- Multiple players may each play their own account on the same computer.
- Accounts which are played from the same computer may not reinforce or transport resources to each other.
- A single player may not use multiple accounts, but may play on one or more servers from the same account.
Our goal is still to limit the ability to exploit by a single user creating multiple accounts, but we do not want to alienate husband/wife teams or roommates or friends who log on in different locations, etc. It is our goal to make Evony fun, exciting and accessible to all!
This is how the technical restriction will work. If you have any feedback, suggestions, or comments, please post them here.
Update:
Here are some clarifications, based on user questions:
- This system will not use your IP to determine multi-account status. Multiple users may log on from the same IP, free from any restrictions, as long as they are using their own computers.
- Accounts will not be automatically banned for multi-accounting. The only thing that our system will do is flag the accounts as being played from the same computer to disallow resource and troop sharing.
- Single-users who create multiple accounts for the purposes of exploiting the system to gain any type of advantage will still be targeted for bans by administrators. This is cheating.
- This system will not be intrusive. There will not be spyware/malware installed on your computer. Everything will be done with the Flash framework.
