I was also wondering if this applies to players that share the same network, both my brother and I play Evony on our home network but on different computers

Multi-Accounting is banned in every other game i play online. why should it be allowed in here. as for deleting the account when and if you decide to make multi-accounting is banned. i would give the people 2-4 weeks to pick an account and then the other account/accounts will be deleted. therefor the person does not have to restart their account. trust me it sucks to start over

thats the thing, your over a network, therefor you still shair the same "PUBLIC" ip address. for example me and my dad play guild wars, our public IP to the world is 24.10.2.9, but in the network my ip is 192.168.2.8, and my dads is 192.168.2.32. so you might need to email the directors at evony and tell them whats going on. or just log on at the same time. i dont know.

So, based on what Dawnseeker was saying, I found the file with the user info that tells Evony which account you started with on a single system. I'm not sure why people still think this is IP-based, when the representative for Evony said it is like a cookie (but one that Adobe Flash uses, so you can't get by it by having account #1 open in firefox and account #2 open in IE).
This is how the file works: you log in to account #1, and the account ID is stored in the file. If you log in to account #2 ON THE SAME COMPUTER, Evony will see account #1 and impose trading restrictions between the two different accounts. That's it so far.
This is more than fair, because it makes multi-account cheating POSSIBLE, but DIFFICULT. It also allows people to log in on a public system and only not be allowed to send resources and such to someone else that previously logged in on the same exact computer.
READ CAREFULLY: THIS RESTRICTION DOES NOT USE YOUR IP ADDRESS, IT USES AN ADOBE FLASH FILE.
I'm not sure why someone creating and using more then one account is bad? This happens in EVERY MMO people have more then one account. Sure this game is free which of course allows anyone and everyone to run more than one account if they want so why is that giving someone an advanced if everyone can do the exact samething if they wanted to.
There is people that over 40 WOW accounts if they want to pay and control that many accounts more power to them. If they want to try and manage more then one civ account go right ahead. I could do the samething if I wanted.
I added this clarification in the original post, but let me reinforce it here. We will not be using your IP to determine multi-account status. Your entire family can all play from the same IP, as long as you are using different computers.
Likewise, an entire office building could all play from the same IP, without any restrictions, as long as they are all using their own computers. No email or special consideration is necessary. However, if you do this, I suggest you use the Edit Browser Headline option to change the header to "TPS Reports" in case the boss wanders by.![]()

My fiance's laptop hard drive died last week, and so he was forced to share my PC til the new one showed up. Fortunately for us, we aren't on the same servers, but there have been numerous people reporting in on this thread that DO share a computer.
This is why I say a same-IP resource block would work best. It's not optimum, but given the other issues involved, it's the least destructive solution.
