Thread: SOME of You Cheaters, Beware!!!

The thing is, you don't know for a fact if someone is cheating.

You can sit there and cry that someone is a cheater, but you really don't know it for a fact unless they logged on as their character and confessed to it.

You can sit there and shout cheater all day long, but you don't know. Evony may have checked it out and found the person wasn't cheating, but they are not going to talk about it because that would violate the person's privacy. So you're going to sit there and complain that Evony isn't doing anything about cheaters.

Try this. Name one person you can prove is cheating that Evony hasn't banned? Even a screenshot of them saying they cheat can be faked, so that won't work. See below. I can photoshop you saying that you cheat on any server you want, I am a pro

    lol, that made me smile.

But, I wasn't complaining about cheaters. Nor whining that Evony isn't doing anything about them. I wasn't really defending cheaters either. I'm just sick of hearing both sides, the company and the customer, moaning about how horrible cheating is and how something must be/is being done about it.

I know screen shots don't prove anything. I'm sure there is a proper way to catch cheaters, but I really doubt Evony will put much effort into it. Someone might be both botting & multi-accounting, but that won't pay for adv. teleporters and excaliburs. It can only be expected that those 'cheating' also make up a significant percentage of coin sales.

I do know people that multi & bot that Evony hasn't caught, but I'm not making threads asking mods to ban them. They're red flags, but I really don't care. I could forward emails and provide screen shots just like everyone else does, but I know that I cannot actually prove anything about anyone. They talk openly about botting and their alts, and it really does not bother me in the slightest.

I just wish the complainers would lighten up. If they really want honesty and integrity, go play a game that isn't 'free' and has a actual budget to seriously handle these kinds of issues. As opposed to Evony, where here you get Mr. 'I've been a mod for 5 days now!' trotted out to do damage control with vague threats and unprovable claims.

That might be the best explanation of the situation.

On a second, I would rather not have this thread closed before we get an answer from EVONY because people are being named.

I'm not interested in who is a multi/bot user. The issue is allowing cheaters to cheat. Keep it at that please.

Evony can use game logs to verify accusations.
But....the eternal ray of sunshine REALLY wanted to see you, so I helped brighten your day by removing the city from around you! ^.^

I have been thinking about what sort of budget this "free" game might have recently myself. It's almost impossible to say anything for certain but it is possible to make some reasonable assumptions.

Evony claims over 10 million registered players but as we all know many of them are inactive accounts. There are around 120 servers, this we know.
I am thinking an average of 2,000 active players on a server would be a modest estimate, so that is around 240 -250 thousand active accounts.
We also need to consider a fairly large number of players who dropped out of the game once they reached end-game, so let's just say 500,000 players?

This is where guess work plays a fair part but it is necessary. I would say that those who spend money might spend on average an amount around $200. Considering the prices of items and what some players have posted about their spending in these forums, I would say that was also a modest estimate. I would also guess (and it is just a guess) that around 10% of players are spenders.

So that gives us 50,000 players spending $200 each which is around $10,000,000. Gross income for around six months, or $20,000,000 for the year. That's a fairly decent gross income for a small company.

Now we all know that their is almost no customer service and there is an automated response system when you try to contact the company in-game. I myself have reported 2 blatant multi accounts and have only ever received an automated response in return.

It's also fairly apparent that game servers are rented and that they are pushed to their maximum capacity, which causes lag and server crashes on many servers. From what I have seen, the servers aren't even purpose-built game servers, but are just normal business type servers, which is probably cheaper for the company to rent, but could help cause many of the problems.

I don't deny Evony LLC the right to make an income, as that is why they run the game. I would think that with that amount income however, some of it could be spent on addressing their customers concerns, especially regarding cheating and purchases. I spent some money on this game myself. I didn't think I spent too much, but it still makes me a paying customer.

Cheating or just not playing to any decent set of morals ?
Some people have a desire to 'win' that over-rules anything remotely close to 'playing the game'.

Example: a player has his cities put at risk ..
suddenly these cities are all (but one) taken over by new players.. all these players are in the same alliance and all have only one city each.
Now there is no way these cities could have been taken by a newbie if the defending player didn't want them to.

This is obviously the same player with multiple accounts trying to keep his cities.
    Does this count as cheating?
Certainly counts as pure cowardice in a war game.
A once big alliance has this sort of player ruining their reputation even further.
'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

There are other games that have their currency sold by third party businesses. They could be stopped easily but has been allowed to continue. There are good reasons for it.

Evony could stop many things if they wished but some things continue for the good of evony as a whole (part of which being the cost of people to monitor the logs of hundreds of servers). We don't want to play sim city.

I personally have 1 account per server I am on. Do the massive people that have multiple accounts and farm them bug me? Yes. A nice solution I've found that doesn't involve evony staff:

Figure out which of the people around them they are farming by the massive amount of resources appearing and disappearing with minimal to no prestige change. Then farm their bots before they can. They generally don't farm much on their main account. So in addition to making their mulitple accounts useless you starve them at the same time.

Are they able to hold up their end of a bargain? As far as I can tell, the answer is no. I would like to know why that is. How do they go about sending mail that you will get a specific bonus when you spend money and then they don't give you that bonus?? Do you know?

The reason I am posting this here is because it is not getting answered anywhere else. I don't think that is a fair way to treat those of us who are honest and are playing the game as it was intended.

    this is so stupid
you guys are discussing ways to catch a cheater, but it is evony's job that should be doing that. if the game doesn't make any effort or produce any results from people cheating. then there no other choice then to not play it. Besides you guys do realize the company was or is a gold farming company. With that said im done.
