Can anyone explain where that turkey comes from? And why there is a difference in the celebration time with Canada?
And in fact, why is it at the end of November (more or less).
My Thanksgiving consists of me and the computer all day. My husband's working until the evening.
At least it's major overtime.

Edu, the turkey comes from an attempt to recreate the original Thanksgiving feast, where legend has it that turkey was served. (Don't really know...but yummm...it works for me!)
It is celebrated at the end of November because it is a harvest feast. After surviving the first winter in the New World, despite the ever present danger of starvation, the settlers managed to grow crops and establish themselves throughout the spring/summer/fall of 1621 and celebrated not only their survival but having enough food to last the coming winter.
Frankly, the actual facts are a bit murky because sometime a couple hundred of years ago it became a sort of urban legend (so much as you could have one in the 1800's) and was altered accordingly.
At this point, nobody really cares so much about that. It's a lovely excuse to get family and friends together, eat yourselves sick on all the best comfort foods, watch football, play games, and spend a bit of time remembering just what all we have to be grateful for in our lives.
