Ken, I think the problem here is that the logic you are working with is fundamentally different.

You logic is- can't win the battle, don't want to lose troops = close gates

My logic is- can't win the battle, gonna lose troops either way = open gates

A lot of the time the attacker will reduce your city's loyalty to 0 and wipe out the troops, whether they are able to take it or not. When they do this, it wipes out all the troops.

If you pay attention to one part of this post, pay attention to this one: Whether you open gates or close gates, it is still possible to lose your army, if you are offline!

which renders your argument about building back up useless, as you could potentially have your army reduced to nothing.

If you pay attention to one other part of this post, pay attention to this one: In the OP you specified that this was a guide for "what to do in a WAR SITUATION". In a war situation, your enemy will kill all your defenses and troops just for the sake of it. Closing your gates is only any good for protecting your army if you're being farmed, NOT if you're at war.

If you have any enemy bigger than you and you are trying to out build him you will lose. Gates should only be closed in certain situations. To tell people to keep their gates closed and that's it is silly. You do not need to have more troops than your enemy to have your gates closed. If you understand range and how troops interact you can have far less troops and still spank your enemy (if they try to attack you).

Quit your alliance, join up at a new one.

If your alliance leader struggles in case of a war, you've got a serious problem. The guy or girl is there to guide you, help you, if he/she struggles, oh boy, I feel really sorry for you.

When I was host, back on server 5 (a long time ago), enemies of ours used to do is attack me, as host, take out the strongest player first, then go for the weaker ones. The weaker ones don't gain you anything.

I still think he's secretly an Evony vet usin' an alias and jus' screwin' with us all. Postin' dog-chases-tail guides like this that are about as advanced as breathin' and typically wrong jus' seems to scream for attention in all the ways that people usually get bored of pretty fast unless they're trollin'.

Not to offend you or anythin' Ken, but surely by now you'd have learnt to not jus' press random keys on your keyboard and hope that a sensible guide comes out of it.
I mean...tellin' people to prepare reinforcements from close by allies, then sayin' to close your gates?
    Come on....

Okay I get it, heard many times. I just posted this to see what the reviews were, and I now know they're bad. So this guide really didn't matter, just meant to see how people liked it.

    Thank you captian Virk!

This is a mini-"guide" for alliances that encourages askin' help and preparin' reinforcement strategies ahead of time, then instructs you to leave your gates closed so that all ally help and reinforcement is completely useless?

What's the point in that? Might as well ask to be expelled....

    Ummm no.
If you're at war with an alliance that knows what they are doing, they will be targeting your higher prestige players in timed attacks to take them out of the running.
This way your higher leveled players can't reinforce, protect and possibly retaliate against the attacking alliance.
Of you're smart, you don't have lower leveled players that can't look after themselves, or you have counseled them to take the hit, you will help them rebuild after.
The future of your alliance? Ummm no.. the future of your alliance is in growing strong and attracting stronger players, dropping those what are deadweight on your alliance.

So what you're saying is you had some ideas, some theories, and you decided to post them as a guide to see if your theories had any merit. And as usual, when you're ideas are slapped down, you confess and say, well, I just wanted to see what you guys thought...
You know, posting these guides of yours as a way to learn to play the game is kind of lazy. Admit you don't know and go to the help section and post some questions.

    Default hey

Isn't also not very smart to have all your alliance members clustered in one area since a strong person can find you and easily kill off many of your alliance members. It might be good to have like 2 or three people near you but more than that is calling for a large strike

Some people prefer their alliance spread apart, some want you all close. Different people, different opinions.

I support having a cluster if most alliance members can defend themselves, it's easier to reinforce and what not. But in an alliance where experienced members are few, then no.
Try your hardest not to be a goon.
