Okay... seriously... it's better to get that "I'm dead" mentality out of your head... I was a strait up newb flat out. I got attacked a bunch... I learned... you can have the best plan ever... and still it's difficult to start out... Nothing is going to make it easy... except remembering it's a game and you can start over if it all goes wrong... I have a job and no access to my computer at work... it's been difficult... but it is doable...

    3-5 barracks starting out? uhh..
on my 2nd day i had 15 barracks, it didn't take half a brain for me to realize that more barracks = more troops being made at one time. is it really that hard to understand? lol..

EDIT: and this guide isn't all that great... u shud be aiming to get ur first lvl 9 barracks and getting ballistas while getting ATs so when ur outta bp u can start farming lvl 1-5 npcs..
and ur most likely not gonna attacked in the beginning of the server when everyone comes outta BP so it'd be better to go ALL sawmills and keep selling lumber and hoarding gold so then once lumber price drops u can buy all ur resources and upgrade to lvl 10 arc and lvl 9 hbr ASAP for NPC farming

ok first this is on a newish server not a NEW server as in one that goes live in 10 minutes . to give you an idea of newish we are talking guys just hitting the 100-200k pres mark.

100k pres in the first 7days? pfft screenshot it or it didnt happen. I play 8 hours plus a day. barracks to level 9 , 15 barracks? lol. Seriously, i think alot of you older players forgot what you did when you was a noob.

You wouldnt have either the resources or the time to build 6 level 9 barracks ATs and archers and train ballista while in BP without help. Thats exactly why i wrote this guide because the older players exaggerate the possiblities of being a noob. Why dont we stick to the realm of possible.

As for NPC and inactive farming archers are fine JOOP. Ballistas are a waste of time for a noob. Better things to spend that time and gold on then training your perfect farming weapon. Ballistas require to much investment from the start as do level 9 barracks.

I see alot of comments here that are changing the purpose of the guide. Which is to help noobs survive the first couple of weeks not take over the neighborhood and mass farm level 3-5 NPCs . Lets save that for another guide shall we?

when i was out of BP i had lvl 9 archery, 2 lvl 9 barracks and like 50 ballistas... i also had like 1k ATs and i was in the #1 ranked alliance. I was not attacked for about a month so I was just sitting there waitin till inactives were kicked and i was making npcs and farming food. After the first week out of bp i had 10k archers and 500 ballistas with 5k ATs. The truth of the matter is that you are a NEWBIE making a guide for NEWBIES. That doesn't work because you haven't even left the newbie stage.
Now say you join a server with 100k-200k prestige guys.. oh wait who the hell would do that? that's the stupidest thing to do. u MUST be a noob to join a server thats not new. It's a horrible way to start unless you really know what you're doing and ur able to get into rank #1 alliances.

P.S. In the 4 servers I've joined, I've been able to get into the #1 alliance each time without a problem. Just get the prestige and message the host explaining why you're a valuable asset (suck up if u have to) and ull get in easily...

EDIT: Oh and I didn't say 15 lvl 9 barracks I said you should atleast aim for 1. Keep reading guides and don't make em until you are no longer a newbie. And an addition to your guide : Don't mix up the resources, stick with one resource. Preferably go ALL sawmills because u can sell the lumber for gold and buy the stone/food/iron. do NOT go ironmines cuz ull need a lot of population

100k -200k pres isnt that much im near 50kish at 7 days. My alliance is in the top 25. I didnt have any help building up outside of advice. And to be honest i wouldnt get in any of the current top 10 on my server if you paid me to do so( well maybe if it was a nice chunk). My guide is realistic yours is not.

We assume some things here in my guide:

    1) your not buying game coins
    2) you dont have an alliance feeding you a massive amount of resources.
    3) your not depending on your alliance to keep troops garrisoned at your city 24/7 while you build up( personally i can think of alot better ways to use troops then to protect the noobs)
    4) you didnt hit the godmode button.( where is that again?)

This guide actually takes parts from other guides and from experienced players i know in game. I used what worked and left out what didnt. It is better to be well defended with a little army of 2k archers OOP than to have 100s of ballistas and 50 ATs. You want a strong defense coming out of protection not a strong offense. and yes you can do all sawmills but what if the price of lumber drops and stone skyrockets? Its happened on my server already. food doubled in price lumber fluctates up to 200% of its average as does iron and stone. When you a noob you cant play the market like that your focus needs to be on prepping for the end of protection. what if i focused all on lumber and 3 days later lumber dropped to .09 and food and stone shot up to .2? it has happened. older players could simply sell at a loss or wait it out a few hours. Noobs dont have that kind of time they need materials now not when the market is in their favor. Building production as i said is the best ratio starting out. Now weeks after you get in the game i would highly recommend starting to change things around to a more advance playstyle.

    1) didnt say i bought game coins
    2) being in number 1 alliance gives u the appearance of looking intimidating, i never asked my members to supply me with resources, always gotta be able to support your own city
    3) same as 2
    4) lol godmode? no its called knowing the game and how to play it correctly

And about the 100s of ballistas and 50 ATs. I think 1k ATs + a bunch of ballistas to add range will stop ppl with 2k archers from attacking you lol and the ballistas aren't for offense, they're for defense when not being used and for FARMING NPCS FOR FOOD/LUMBER/STONE/IRON/GOLD. dont forget that.

ok well think about this. in like 3-4 days I made all lvl 7+ sawmills. I made about 5M gold off selling the lumber because ppl bought em like crazy. prices dropped, i was able to buy WAAAY more resources with that 5mil gold and still have gold left over to do researches. PLUS i was farming NPCS.

The funniest thing I see about your comeback is that you think 2k Archers is better than 1k ATs and ballistas that can farm a lot of resources for u. I can argue about this all day and prove you wrong on all aspects because I've been playing this game for months. I've seen all the different ways of gameplay, I've tried different ways of starting out. And if you join the number 1 alliance u wont be stuck with a bunch of nubs that are ranked 25.
When i first joined that alliance they told me to get lvl 9 barracks asap and get ballistas. I had so many resources when I wud log in because of all the farming.

P.S. Last time I did the whole offense thing, I came out of BP with 15k Archers w/ 3k ATs. So apparently, you must suck if you can only get 2k archers lol

EDIT: And also you said "ok first this is on a newish server not a NEW server as in one that goes live in 10 minutes . to give you an idea of newish we are talking guys just hitting the 100-200k pres mark." So that's why I brought up the "Now say you join a server with 100k-200k prestige guys."
And about the 100k prestige by the time your outta bp, you must really be a newbie. So many people have done 100k prestige. All you have to do is keep a low town hall and only one city. Try google, you'll probably find people with pics of 100k prestige in 7 days.

To be honest without naming any names ( though from comments these guys seem well known) ive looked over a few guides from vets a few times and they are quite pathetic for a noob guide. Alot of them have misinformation and bad advice. Some of which i will list here:

    1) farm NPC cities in BP to get high pres - sorry dude you cant farm cities in noob.
2)You need high pres to get in a good alliance - not really you just need to be more intelligent than a pencil and active.
3)leave your townhall at level 2 - wrong again TH greater than 2 is required for many things.
    4) get out BP and farm low level NPCS ASAP- thats just dumb who wouldnt take advantage of 7 days of " you cant touch this" just for a lil farming
    5) you dont need any quarrys- yeah you do. Stone like everything else fluctuates its not always super cheap( actually on my server its the second most expensive) Noobs dont have gold to toss around.. oh wait we was suppose to get gold from the magical attacks on NPCs lol.
    6) build 6 billion barracks so you can train 5000 troops in 2 seconds. - forgot one thing building barracks takes my time and resources both of which are in short supply. I dont need to take over tuscany single handed on day 8. i just want to live to see day 9 so imma focus on ATS walls and useful things and in the meantime ill casually build up a couple thousand archers so i can farm level 1s and 2s.
    7) build 6-8 cottages - right with level 2 townhalls right? LOL. so if i put #6 and 7 togather i can train my 500 troops im going to have in .3 seconds.. great waste of resources.

I could go on but im getting bored and you get the jest. or maybe you dont i dunno. vet guides for noobs is a fail and in many cases laughable. vets dont know how to be noobs they dont know how to think in terms of ok im new what should i do. They think in terms of " i make jack farming level 10 NPCS so im going to rush to get there" Noobs think " ok how to keep from getting stomped when i come out of protection." In short vets dont think like noobs and noobs dont yet care about things vets care about. Hence why people that been noobs recently should be writing guides for noobs not vets who were noobs last year. Why would you write a guide about something 6 months to 2 years after it happened?

and FYI evony isnt exactly rocket science i play much much more complicated MMOs. the game mechanics are fairly simple( use to play a text base MMO that was very similar but had "races"). But some of the advice ive seen posted in these guides are just plain bad and other vets are telling the vets writing them its good.. Its like me not knowing german writing a paper in german and another english speaking person reading it using babblefish telling me its good. I would want a german telling me its good not an ...american.

Same theory applies to this. As a noob if i followed these guides ive seen i would be frustrated, out of resouces all the time, and when i came out of protection the nearest guy with a decent army would be all up and down my backside like a window shade.... but i would have 50 ballistas to go farm HIM more resources to plunder...

EDIT TO ADD: oh and pretty sure my alliance would appreciate not having to protect me constantly so i can actually build up since i spent all my stuff on things i really dont need right now to survive. I think ill do it my way and make a transition to war city/ massive armies/level 10 npc cities. sarcasm- Im in no hurry to beat evony./sarcasm
