All you have to do is ignore the threads that are like that, or report them for spamming. There's no need to get all up in their face for it.
It's slightly more annoying when they spam all over existing threads with the nonsense and necro old threads just to post some nonsense on it, but if they make a thread and no-one responds they will either learn or go away anyway.
PEACE
I think there is more than exclusivity going on here...there's a sense not of belonging, but of ownership. There have been quite a few people who have claimed sections of these forums and decided that they get to write the rules and they can choose who may post there and various other rather ridiculous notions. I can think of several rather recent incidents of this, and not all in Off-Topic.
Moderators who are simply looking for a power-trip and want to be able to choose who stays and who goes are bad for the community. Evony recognizes this, and your reps did away with the old application process to become a moderator, whereby those with previous moderating experience were given some preference. The old way tended to attract people who are addicted to power and want only to be in charge, wherever that might be. I am NOT trashing any previous mods....I'm not saying that's who was chosen, but that's certainly the predominance of who must have been applying. The current system puts the weight where it belongs: on those who have proven that they love these forums, are active here simply because they enjoy being here, who are a part of the community and interact in a positive way with the members here.
Your current moderating team is an excellent example of how well the new system works. You have engaged, active mods who have been around a long time, making friends and learning the personalities here. They want nothing more than to contribute to making and keeping this a fun place to be, where people can relax a bit, joke a bit, find the information they need to improve their game, or get assistance when they have a problem. They are making an honest effort on YOUR behalf.
What Wildor is asking is not unreasonable. He's asking that you, the community members who are the reason for this forum to exist, meet him halfway. Banish this Us vs. Them mentality, get rid of the middle-school-style popularity cliques, and simply enjoy being here. Help others enjoy being here. Choose the positive over the negative.
Is that really so much?
I'm pretty sure AbstractAngel, Hods, and myself are the last old-school mods that could just get in by asking.
And let me assure you that AbstractAngel and Hods aren't cruel and powerhungry at all.
It's all Rodri's fault.
