I think there is a sense of community here, no one every tried to get me to leave or flamed me. Maybe its the person and not the OT?

I would have to concur. The term flaming needs too be redefined. Posters still can not attack other users, but the new users do need to raise their posting levels a little bit so mods do not have to puppy guard them.
I helped out Ken alot. He is no longer just a nuisence. He has a hilarious story in the RPG forums and has learned to watch himself a bit better. But I can not do what I did with Ken (not allow him to post till he spoke with me) for every player.
So, like with Victillany, please PM a mod about a player who spams. Wildor and I are more than happy to speak to/ infract said players. Flaming will still not be tolertated, but the term flaming will be readjusted to not be a catch all for insults.
Look for Heights in the RPG and story section
I have to concur with this.
I have never felt the term 'flaming' to mean a simple snarky comment. I would as readily snip at someone I was friends with as I would a stranger if they were being particularly... brainless. It has nothing to do with the "Newness" of a person (I've only been out of lurk-mode for about a month and a half, and in the OT less than that!) or even anything mean-spirited, I'm just a snarky person. And though PC society would say otherwise, one has to expect to be treated differently if they do not hold themselves to a high enough standard to really try. u want 2 type like dis? You have to assume people will think you are lazy or uneducated.
It is wrong for people to gang up and harass someone, yes. I often feel the things against Ken cross the line, and sometimes new people are just that -- new. But personally, I've never seen a person "flamed" for being new... they are "flamed" for being unproductive/disrespectful/ignorant/willfully annoying. I was new and never had a single problem with anyone, and I look around and see several other newer people that I have seen simply integrate themselves into OT without being 'excluded'.
Flaming, to me, has always been more about unwarranted harassment, purposeful personal insults, etc. Being honest shouldn't be punished when it isn't over the top. =/ But that's a whole 'nother subject, isn't it?![]()
I agree with every post on this page. Too many times...
"Maybe it's the person and not the O-T."
"... if they do not hold themselves to a high enough standard."
End of round one.
This will be a very long fight.
Thread closed as a plea for tolerance is turning into justifications for exclusivity.
I will come back to this. Thanks all for an enlightening conversation.
