Your IP Address is always vulnerable to attack. Someone could hack into your computer through it and inject trojans/viruses to your computer as well as keyloggers to get your personal banking information and passwords etc etc. And yes, this can happen randomly. So imagine if someone had your IP Address written down on a piece of paper and knew to target it?
They could also do full brunt attacks like "spamming" it with information that will basically lag down your connection so bad, it becomes un-useable and can crash your computer.
The more scary about what a hacker could do with an IP Address is do a simple trace and find out where you live, or at least the immediate area depending on your ISP.
So in shot, It is never a good idea to give out your IP address to anyone.
