Thread: Wheel of Fortune: really random?

Default Wheel of Fortune: really random?

Has anyone actually gotten anything usefull from the wheel of fortune/amulet recently?

The past few times for me it's been jammed packed with stuff I need/usefull stuff, like advanced teleporters, ultimate guidelines, 200,000 iron, 200,000 gold, medals. I've gotten a few of the medals, but each time it is partually packed with good stuff, I somehow get the crappiest thing on the board: anabasis, corslet, etc.

Are the probabilities equal for all spaces on the wheel, or, like the medal drop rate, is it a complicated formula that makes winning the more valuable stuff less likely (as I am beginnign to suspect).

All the goodies you see on the wheel are just to entice you. It isn't random, it is pre-determined to land on 20k food and speakers

ps- corselet isn't a crappy item dude

It's still pretty early on server 5... not to much need for defense when <1% are strong enough to attack ; )

It doesent matter if u hit stop or just let it run through, its already decided what u get. u just hope its not speakers.

There is no such thing as truely random when it comes to computer generated 'randomness'. Computers are incapable of generating truely random results. The best they can do is simulate randomness, with lesser or greater degrees of imperfection.

Most software applications base their random generation of numbers on pre-built function libraries, that often use your computers real time clock as a seed for what numbers to come up with. Then the seed is used in an algorithm to spit out a number in a manner that tries to simulate randomness.

The "Stop" button doesn't work anyway.

And I've noticed that when I do get an amulet, the wheel will land on things I will never need or use, or on 30k or more of resources that I already have over 300k of. (Yes, and speakers, too...even though I try to ignore the chat altogether.)

    Default Weighted

I have a theory, the wheel items are weighted. When the spin gets to the slowest speed, a random number is generated-- e.g. a roll of dice-- and compared to a predetermined win chance for the item under the highlight, if you win the roll you win the item and the wheel stops, otherwise it advances to the next item and another roll is made, etc.
