*I* have no issue with it.

    j/k....but there are days.....lol
But you are right that it depends largely on how you are raised.

When a human cannot win a conflict with his brain, he resorts to his fists. When a better weapon is handy, he'll use that as well. Yes, I said "he" because men are more driven to this sort of behaviour than women. But in essence, it all comes from two guys fighting for the same thing, and one is going to win because he's smarter, so the other fires up the weaponry.

Not to be morbid or anything like that, but if some of the wars hadn't happened, like the world wars, for example, it's estimated, key word is estimated, that we would be facing massive overpopulation in the next few years, if we hadn't already.

War is a consequence (not the proximate cause) of fear and/or greed. The guys in the trenches have zero input in to the diplomatic failures which preceded them and placed them in conflict. One (Please don't use such terms.) with the ability to sell his ideas to others is generally enough to kick the whole thing off.
I joined the Romans alliance because they hae the diplomatic skills to avoid peric victory adventures and the ass kicking power of regular players to see the real thing through. Dont worry too much about your prestige. If you are a regular player we will talk to you. Apply at embassy to romans alliance

This simply isn't true. Males of most species will fight to protect their territory or their breeding rights. Most of those fights will end before one of the combatants is killed, but not always. Quite often, the loser of those fights will be so badly injured that they will not survive long.

If you look at ants, they will often go to war against another ant colony to win territory (usually destroying completely their opposition) and sometimes to take slaves.

Human wars are often the result of very complex circumstances and causes. But sometimes they are fairly simple:

A certain group flies aeroplanes into buildings in your country and threatens to continue with more acts of terrorism against your civilian population; You know that a certain country is allowing this group to run training camps in their country and is at the very least sympathetic to that group's cause; There is no diplomatic solution to this as the host country's government refuses to expel this group; The only thing you can do is declare war against both the terrorist organisation and the country that allows them within their borders. To not declare war in those circumstances is to place your civilian population at risk of similar attacks. There is no guarantee that the war will stop the terrorist attacks completely, but you at least know that they will not be training more terrorists in that country.

It's not always a matter of blokes having a measuring competition. Sometimes it is about protecting the people that you ( a) as a politician have been elected b) as a soldier ) are being paid to protect.

I am not saying that war is good. It is very destructive and causes much grief and ill feelings. I am saying that there are many reasons why wars happen that can be either very simple to understand or very complex in the underlying causes. For those of us who live in democracies, it is every individual's responsibility to question their government's motives for proposing war and to find out as much as they possibly can about the true reasons for those conflicts.

    to Rodri:
Breeeding and territory are both related to the will to survive and reproduce. My point there was that animals don't kill each other becuase they believe differently or whatever.
I agree with the next part of your post, but I don't think I expressed my self quite correctly in mine. If you are attacked then obviously you should fight back against the agressors and anyone who supports them. But if it wasn't for any of the reasons I mentioned, why would they attack you in the first place?

humans fear what they understand the least

Alright... sorry to edit this out SunTzu but you know the rules. No religion.
I noticed this edit, which makes me question the start of the topic when that is almost always the first reason of why wars happen...

typical for a mod to break rules they start
ie: french speaking thread? when rules state English only?

which shows why wars as big or small they can be,
are based on who has power and what they can do with it.

"War is hell for those that have to fight it, and a mystery to those that get to watch it from a safe distance. The things your friends and grandparents dont tell you are this, they lost many a friend, they got used to the smell of bloated rotting corpses,
death is comfort, to live is work, why was it not me. It may be all that ya'll have said and then some, but what is for certain is that it is still needed and effective.

"Do we have a love of war? maybe, maybe not, is it because the 'power' must rule? yes. We as humans do it because it has to be done. To keep faction A from screwing
faction B, faction B must blow up faction A until faction A ceases with the screwing. simple. Talking is fine, when it works its a blessing, but when talk is nothing but talk... chink chink, squeeze dont pull.

"And it is true, that to bring a knife to a gun fight is foolish, so the war industry will
    always flourish.

"Will evony and games like ever replace war.... I HOPE NOT, because to do so would
sterilize the horror of war, making it steptic and easy to choose.

"War is hell for a reason, strive for peace, yes, but be prepared when faction A wants to kill you."

The greatest paradox of all time, but true none the less: The best way to have peace is to be prepared for war.
