Thread: Cheating? Paying?

    Default Cheating? Paying?

How is it fair that some guy can buy a bunch of coins and not be considered a cheater? If I were to spend a million dollars on this game. I could come in and play as Mr. Invincible. What type of fair play is this? You say no cheating but the whole point of being able to use money to boost your resources and speed up things is just as worse as someone who bots or has a multi-account or whatever other cheating you say is happening. So there I see a double standard. To me Paying is cheating. You need medals you pay for them and bam you can make twice as many archers as a guy who did not pay.

Then evony says no this is perfectly legal and it is not cheating because that is how we make money. lol I find this to be humorous. What a great business model. The person who pays money is not a cheater. But if you pay money you get speedups, higher rank. Resources etc... etc...

So is this game about who is skilled and using the most strategy. Or is this game simply a business to see how many people pay coins before they realize that this game doesn't test your skill like a chess game or some other game with fair play. This game is all about who is the best cheater!

Um... Have you ever played an online game before? There are always two choices you can make; pay or not pay.

What allows Evony to decide what is legal and what isn't is that they own the game. It is a good business model as other companies do the same thing.

I find it humorous that forum newbs comment on what is wrong with Evony when they haven't participated on the forums.

This was the most entertaining part of this POS thread I noticed.

I can make more archers than you cause I've got MEDALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: I know he's suggesting being able to produce archers in another city that the non-payer doesn't have, but that's not the way it was worded so I poke fun at that.

What part of 15 barracks per city 5 cities vs 15 barracks per city 2 cities.

75 barracks vs 30 barracks with equal research say all leveled out of 10 and equal everything. You max out what you put in there too. So everything equal and you don't see an advantage I think you don't know how to add.

    Default Seriously?

I'm sorry, I just find this rant completely ridiculous. You are playing a game offered to everybody for free, instead of charging an upfront price to users, which by the sounds of it you couldn't afford anyway.

In addition they have the roulette wheel set up so you, a free user, can have a chance to win the very same items and resources that that people that spend money to support evony can purchase, including game currency.

Evony is not a non-profit organization, don't be stupid. The cost of maintaining this game is far from free and of course they have to pay the bills somehow. Even if you choose not to help continue the Evony experience, you are still allowed to play along with paying customers.

Be grateful that you even have the opportunity to play this game, if you think that it is too un-fair for supporters of the game to have access to what they want when they want it, simply do not play. It's that easy.

Yes that is what I am thinking about doing. If you notice the stats the people with the highest prestige and honor have higher ranks and titles. Do you find this a coincidence? As you can see in any server the people on top are the paying players. So yes you pay you are on top. So all this stuff about bots and cheaters is funny. Because to me paying players are just as guilty of cheating as a bot person or multi-account. So whatever.

actually, a lot of people in the top 200 on my server *myself included* are only Knights because we can't get medals for promotions.

I am talking top 10 in prestige and top 10 in honor. Those people. If you see knight tell me and I will take back my statement.

I'm really starting to have a problem with all the people who complain about this. First of all, daybenno is absolutely correct. We can get rid of buying coins, so nobody will have an advantage over anyone else. In order to do that, we would probably have to institute a flat price to play the game. If you can't buy coins, how would you pay the subscription rate? So basically, all the free players simply wouldn't be able to play AT ALL anymore. Is that really what anyone wants?

Next, let's look at this from the perspective of the paying players. Nobody ever seems to present their side of it. Let's say YOU pay for coins. Is it at all fair for you to have absolutely no advantage whatsoever over the free players? Really? Why on earth would you ever pay then? Just to donate to us out of the goodness of your heart and because you have huge piles of money lying around and nobody to give them to? If you pay for a game that is otherwise free, you better believe you should get some bang for your buck. You'd demand it. If we "evened the playing field" so that free players could do absolutely everything the paying players could do in exactly the same way, the paying players would rise up in protest and scream bloody murder and they'd have every right.

They choose to open their wallets in return for some advantages in this game. It supports the game, and it supports the players who choose not to pay at all. The free players get to play all they want, and the paid players get some goodies. Everyone wins, as I see it.

This is off-topic, but I'm going to throw it out there: It's the same premise for how many hours a day someone puts into the game. If you spend 16 hours a day shepherding your city up through the ranks, you better believe you deserve to have an advantage over someone who can only log in twice a day for 10 minutes at a time. Why wouldn't you? You invested your time and effort into building up, and you SHOULD be rewarded accordingly.

All of this is actually VERY fair. The only people who don't seem to think so are those who want something for nothing and choose to throw a fit when ANYONE gets something more than they do, no matter the circumstances. I think all those people should head over to the next Olympic games and demand medals. After all, it isn't fair that the athletes competing there should be entitled to fame and medals and commercial endorsement deals....just because they naturally were more skilled and because they were able to devote years and years of 14 hour a day practices to developing their abilities. You were busy with school and you were born short and slow, so that's really unfair that they get the glory and you don't. It isn't your fault, after all. Right?

You know it is highly annoying to see all these complaints about paying members of the game getting more stuff then the nonpaying members. Without the paying members there would be no Evony ,, It is the paying members that make this game possible at all. Yes the paying member get more stuff at a faster rate then the nonpaying members, but guess what those paying members give more to the game then the non-playing members. Thats right they give more , they give there money to pay the bills for this game. Without the game cent system or something similar in place then either evony would fold or EVERYONE would be required to pay a monthly Subscription to play.

But sometimes, something so bad happens, that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes the crow could bring that soul back to put the wrong things right"
