Thread: Hypothetical Applications for Dynamite.

    Lightbulb Hypothetical Applications for Dynamite.

Dynamite. "Immediately destroys one building; cannot be used on town hall. no resources will be absorbed from the building as opposed to dismantle'ing (one level at a time.) " (20 cents)

I have recieved two of these and have come up with what I believe to be a useful tactic within dire defensive war scenarios.

What can One constructively do with dynamite..... (other than the obvious Instant blank Tile to reallocate within your city limits.)

These methods can be employed offensively if you merely intend to capture then abandon an enemy city.... thereby significantly decreasing the city's strategic value. The reverse applies as well.... if one of your cities is about to fall into enemy hands these methods can be emplyed as well to aide in your recapture of the city.

Dynamite can be used to blow up key city structures just before the annexation of your city occurrs; thereby crippling the city's capabilities and assisting you in re-occupying your city.

Reminder: As Mentioned above the Town Hall of a city Cannot be Demolished in this fashion.

    1) Destroy the City Walls:

Always the most costly structure to replace.... in theory if you destroy a wall in this fashion every defensive structure you purschased *for* the wall would also be obliterated; leaving the invader with no wall.... It would certainly make the city extremely vulnerable for quite some time, and in multicombat area's the situation could easily escalate.....

    2) Destroy the Academy:

Without the Academy The City Walls can no longer build most of its fortified units, not to mention it also prevents machinery and enginneering tech bonuses to be applied.

Not to mention that without the academy Most commonly deployed armies require academy techs in order to be built.

    3) Destroy the Relief Station.

The relief station's destruction would slow the pace of marching armies of the city in question to a crawl; it is also a resource and time hungry building.

    4) Destroy the Feasting Hall.

(UnOrthodox ; Certainly.... but hear me out.)

Without a Feasting Hall, one cannot house hero's to lead expeditions / attacks with. effectively limiting the city to transport capability.

Id say academy, as you lose the bonuses for everything you researched

    Greetings once more:

Another idea would be to blow up other buildings of level 7 or higher (these mostly would be located in an enemy's intital city; including but not limited to

    Forge
    Workshop
    Stable

Though these seem secondary to the primary targets listed in my initial post.

You can't blow up a wall, you can't tear it down level by level either, it is missing the icon, just like the town hall.

I like your idea though. The best bet would be the acadamy, especially if it is high level. No acadamy means no tech and weakens every single other thing in the city.

Losing a Feating Hall is great though, the attacking army with hero would have to turn back immediately to the originating city. This is the same as if you try to send reinforcements to your own city with a hero, and there is no room in the Hall. The army immediately returns.

If the attackers are an hour or more away, and your remaining city is close, you can retake it almost instantly.

well, for a "scorched earth" policy, trying to make the city as useless as possible to your enemy, it's hard to beat city walls, but can you blow your walls?

if not, obviously the academy would be most crippling.

nevertheless, I like LordBloke's point about the feasting hall. makes your attacker go home. lovely.

I'd go for the Academy, if you can't build troops to garrison your walls, why do you have walls?

i would just use it for the academy, as if you use it for the relief station it doesnt matter, cause wouldnt they send reinforcements and resources from a different town to the town they just captured, and blowing up the feasting hall wouldnt do much as it doesnt take long to get it back to level 1 and your hero wont leave just because it doesnt have a feasting hall, or it didnt for me.
Or i could depending on the flat the city was built on, just annoy and destroy the invaders army by abandoning the city, imagine, the invader sends his entire army and seconds before his attack lands you abandon your city and it becomes a level 10 NPC

I don't think the Feasting Hall idea works. Does it? If so, awesome. But I think the hero becomes mayor. HOWEVER. This IS a good idea if you think the enemy will NPC your town. Why? Because then their hero is stuck, I think. At least until they build a Hall (not long for that though). Not sure though.

Alot of ideas in this topic seem theoretical.
