In parts 1 and 2 of the New Player War Account Guide we discussed the basics of forming a solid foundation for a war account that will last and be viable in late game heavy fighting. This guide will expand on some of the hero related aspects of the game that I touched on in my earlier posts.
Going back to buying heroes ? be a hero buying snob!!! ONLY buy heroes with a base level 60 or higher. As a reminder, base level is calculated by taking the heroes highest attribute score and subtracting from that the level number. So a level 4 hero with a 65 attack attribute score is a base level 61 hero.
But why buy the different heroes? Here is a quick refresher. The reason is that they all have a different use. You should have 1 politics hero (base level 60 or higher politics), one intel hero (base level 60 or higher intel) and the rest of your heroes should ALL be attack heroes (base level 60 or higher attack attribute) for each city. Here are the hero uses:
Politics hero ? should be the mayor most of the time ? this hero bonuses resource production and also cuts build times for building upgrades.
Intel hero ? temporarily appoint this hero as mayor before cuing research and it will cut research times ? this hero can also be used in attacks on NPCs and using high intel heroes when raiding NPCs will result in a higher drop rate for things like Michaelangelo Scripts, teleporters etc.
Attack hero ? automatically steps up and defends city when it is under attack ? also you can temporarily appoint this hero as mayor and it will cut the build times on your troops when you cue them for training.
***Note*** With a level 1 Inn you will have the best chance of finding high base level heroes but you can only buy and view one at a time. It is a good idea to try to keep your heroes close together in their growth so they are all strong in their key feature. If you wait until you build up a bit of a gold stockpile you will be able to rapidly recruit heroes even with a level 1 inn. The way to do this??? Go the inn> buy a hero no matter what level and base level they are> then if they are base level 60 or higher keep them IF NOT dismiss them and then go back to your inn and ? rinse and repeat? keeping only the ones that fit the base level 60+ theory. Heroes will only cost a few thousand in gold so it will not deplete your gold stores too much. You will most likely have to hire and fire 30 to 40 heroes to find each base level 60 that you will keep - unless you get lucky. It takes some time and it is a bit of a chore so GL!
Now that you know how to buy and use your heroes, how does one go about leveling them up? First you have to understand what levels a hero. The answer to that is much like real life. Your hero gains attribute points by doing things that give him or her experience (ex. Attacking, defending, building, researching etc.)
Only after you gain the needed amount of experience are you allowed to increase your hero one level for the attribute you choose. So, you will need to use your heroes in order to level them up. If you have followed the model laid out in my New Player War Account Guide Part 1 and 2, you will already have a workable account and your heroes will no doubt be gaining experience on a daily basis as you farm for food and resources. This is how you put that experience to work.
First ? go to your hero management tab over in the right hand side menu bar on the Evony screen. I have attached a screenshot to go with this part of the guide. It is a screenshot of the hero management tab after I have clicked on it to open the hero management window (circled in BLUE) on the screen ? I will refer back to this screenshot from this point forward as I discuss hero leveling.
The part circled in RED (hopefully you are not color blind) is the hero management tab. Next you need to select a hero to upgrade by clicking on that heroes name. The next screen you see pop up will be the hero management window and I have circled that in blue airbrush.
Hero Management Window
On the hero management window you will see a list along the left side of the screen that shows all your heroes names. I have circled this in PINK (running out of colors that would show up lol). When you click on a heroes name then their attributes will appear along the right hand side of the screen so you can view their details.
Look at the experience line which I have circled in BLACK. If the number to the left is larger than the number on the right you can level up your hero! Also the UPGRADE button which I have circled in GREEN will be lit up and not grayed out as it is on this picture. Click the UPGRADE button until it wont let you anymore. As you click the UPGRADE button you will see the number to the right of the attribute box increase. For each number you gain here you can then increase the main attribute of your hero one point.
Once you have loaded up your heroes attribute box then you need to add points to the main attribute. You do this by clicking the + sign to the side of the attribute you wish to increase. I have circled this button in BURGUNDY. Each time you click the + button you will upgrade that attribute one point.
***Note*** ONLY upgrade the highest attribute for each hero. If the attack attribute is the highest then that is an attack hero. Upgrading any other attributes is a waste of experience points and will not make your hero work better since we are only using them for one job. Stick with the main attribute and level that to make each hero strong.
***Note*** Very important ? REMEMBER TO CLICK THE SAVE BUTTON each time you make any upgrades to your heroes attributes. If you do not save the changes, the attributes you added will drop off and sit in the attribute line until you add them and save. So, remember to save your changes each time!
***Note*** Again as a reminder - Remember to always maintain your heroes at 100% loyalty.
One last thing here with hero attribute leveling ? there is a small green + sign at far right of the experience line. This is the button you click if you want to use an item from your account to further bonus the level of your hero. These items will add an instant percentage gain to your heroes experience and make it possible to level them up without carrying out attacks etc. DO NOT do any of this type of leveling until your heroes main attribute is equal to or greater than 130. The reason for this is that the bonus items increase a percentage of your heroes level and you are wasting these items if you use them early. You will get more bang for your buck if you save these items and apply them after your hero is already strong.
Now you should have all the tools you need to level your heroes. Since you should also be farming daily at this point start hitting those level 5 NPCS ? make sure you have archery level 9 research and go to town. It will bump your heroes up a lot and help you stockpile food for the massive volume of troops you will be training as you proceed into mid game and beyond. Later we will also discuss farming level 9 and 10 NPCs but that is another discussion and you have to level your heroes first anyway.
Fight hard in battles and use this guide to be EPIC in this game. See you next time.
