I do not feel that we are in a second rebirth for the same reasons as stated. Art is mostly in decline in my opinion, trending more towards abstract. While this change is not a bad thing, I fail to see the beauty of it. I like to be able to look at something and determine what it is actually trying to show with some thought, especially when it has hidden meaning. Of course, these features are still in abstract art, but I tend to trend towards the concrete.

As far as technology goes, let me quote a quote from one my my characters in the Solar Empires Roleplay, which I am the head game master of.

...and so we left, not out of anger or fear [for ourselves]. We could have easily made war on the world and won, but that is not our way. Mankind is not ready for us, we accept that fact. We bear no animosity towards our fellow man. Only pity, for it is their fear of advancement that will inevitably doom them.

-Grandmaster Jonathan Harland on the Exodus
With each passing day we bring ourselves closer and closer to destroying ourselves, something represented in this quote from SE.

At the very cornerstone of man's mindset is aggression. It has been hardcoded into our heads by some fluke of evolution and it is deep rooted. A complete and total understanding of not only our fellow man, but the universe as a whole cannot come into being without first shedding these... these savage instincts. We are no better than the beasts from which we descended so long as they remain in place!
