I liked the old systems. There were a lot of lame games out there but some independent publishers were really pushing the envelope back then. There was a lot of variety that you just don't see these days.
Games for the latest systems tend to be fairly formulaic as the abundance of II, III, IV & V titles demonstrates. 16 bit systems were a breakthrough and opened up a lot of possibilities both graphically and in game-play. There wasn't a lot of history around so developers were taking more chances to try and find a market.

Just on Street Fighter II, I loved that game but I only ever played the arcade version. I wouldn't mind having that machine in my dream games room even now.

    Thumbs up

All the old Super Mario games all the way....except number two (USA version, not Lost Levels). The other games like Pokemon.....hmmm....I will TRY and the same goes with the Zelda (also try.) Yep, Nintendo was popular back then....and still is.

Just look at my signature and you see I'm a "super fan" of the Mario games!

Uh Atari was old, but if you really want old skewl, got to go with the Intellivision, and for that i'd go with pitfall or chopper, old skewl nintendo is legend of zelda and the begginings for the final fantasy sets (tho FF VII is king imho).

Released in 1979, how is that for old? (yes i had one, yes i know that makes me old too)

Oh man, Intellivision. Wow, that's where Donkey Kong came from. I loved that game, but it was much more difficult to control on the Intellivision game console. Much better when it came out on the Super NES, with Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr.

There was a promotion to get it free for subscribing to Nintendo Power.
This brought so many new kids into the world of RPG's, what a great legacy. It also had excellent sequels in DW 2, 3 and 4.
