Thread: Zombie Accounts

    Default Zombie Accounts

We all know it happens; people get tired of the game and so they give their account/login information to one of the friends they have made. The account still looks like it is active, and is used to send reinforcements or resources to the other players in alliances. It is happening in every server- some alliances have 30-40 of their members zombied; so they can have an artificially high ranking or the supplies.

I know there really isn't anything that can be done by the Powers that be in Evony to change that although supposedly if caught the accounts should be banned and flagged. My problem is that it creates the illusion of how many active, unique users are on each server; thereby not giving Evony a clear idea on just how desolate some of the servers have become.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

If someone is playing multiple accounts without specific permission from Evony for extenuating circumstances, they will be banned. Multi accounting is against the rules whether you make 5 accounts or make 1 account and "inherit" 4 more of these zombie accounts.

Yes, it will be classed as multi accounting and risk being banned. Tell them this and laugh when their best account is banned and they are left with the small ones.

Zombie Account: Definition- An account that was created, played, built up by someone who has then decided to quit the game and the Login information was given to someone, usually in the same alliance so that the resources, troops, and prestige is used to an advantage.

It is easy to just say report them and ban the players- that seems like the standard answer. But my guess is that anywhere from 25-40% of accounts in all servers are Zombies. I have tried many times to message moderators and reporting the blatant abusers, but Evony is obviously overwhelmed or (in my own opinion) Would rather have it look like there are more players then there are.

There has to be a way for Evony to do something to at least put a damper on this a bit. Whether a password reset in which people would have to access the page through their email account or something.

I think Evony should give players the option of retiring their account, so the account isn't just some inactive account or one that is passed down and becomes a "Zombie" the Retired account would be frozen for "x" number of days in hopes the Evony customer would return, but without any benefit, food, troops, everything would be gone. All production would be frozen, and any unused items lost. Retirement mode would NOT be a faux-Holiday. After "x" days the system would delete the account all together.

    Just an idea... any thoughts?

But if Evony allows people to retire accounts, then they won't be able to claim to have "15 million" members! Which is over 30% more members than WoW, which has been around for 5+ years....
