Many, many years ago, in a time most people thought to not have existed, there was a flourishing land. The land, was ruled by 5 cities. Each city was magnificent, bigger than most could dream in todays time. The ruled the land together, it was a perfect system. Unfortunately, nothing perfect can last. The cities broke into a civil war. We know nothing of the results, but the city was lost for many years. Until Now...

A single man went exploring, and walked right into an alternate universe. The land of the Cities, they called it. He told nobody, and brought a lucky few back with him each trip. Eventually, the cities started to gain their population back

Many people settled down in the new land. Those who entered, refused to return. But eventually, the people from the world we know passed away, and a new generation of our people were born and raised in the cities. Would things go better this time? Could we possibly rule the land without conflict?

Expatcat ran as if his life depended on it, which in a way, it did. Nobody had seen him yet, which was good. However, he heard the sound of feet, and the heavy armor clanging. Expatcat was never much of an athlete, but the soldiers armor gave him an advantage.

This who voyage was a terrible idea. Why did he think he had the power to stop all this? Now slaves were running all over the place getting caught and trapped again. It was a disaster. So much for making a difference.

The idea was to quietly sneak down to the docks, free the slaves, and get them a caravan to Fluorspar, where there is no slavery. Not only did the rescue fail, and the slaves go beserk; but they made so much noise an alarm was sounded. Now he has half the guard on his trail. How fast would word spread? He heard them shouting a lockdown, he had to get home. Nobody had ever tried something like this before, it would be heard everywhere.

He ran into his house, and heard the guards run past. Whew. His hopes were shattered when the familiar voice of his uncle sounded "And where were you?"

A bead of sweat ran down Expatcat's face. Before he could say anything, the door slammed open and the guard poured in. Somebody had seen him.

Expatcat's Uncles face turned into a frown.

"You were the one who freed the slaves?" He said "Do with him what you will guards, he is not worthy of his nobility."

Not that Expatcat was surprised. His uncle never liked him, probably just waiting for him to die so he can take the fortune. Now he gets rid of me and gets the fortune. But before anyone moved, Expatcat darted out the back door.

The word was already spreading across the land of his deeds, he was safe in no slave city. That meant he had only a few options. Fluorspar, Fantasia, or Antarack. He made his decision and ran for the city of perfection, Fantasia.

An soft, but insistent chiming sound rang from a cloth covered object. There was a message from one of his agents in another city. He muttered a half-understandable syllable and swished his hand sideways. The cloth simply disappeared. From the object, which happened to be a priceless orb of utterly transparent crystal, an image projected into space.

A wiry man with thin-framed glasses began to speak. "Greetings, Archmage. I bring news from Aramantha. The slaves have revolted at the behest of one Expatcat. The city is in chaos as I speak. There is a raging fire, in fact, in the southern district near the last slum area."

He paused his monotone voice, waiting for some confirmation.

"How does this effect my plans, Mr. Syll?"

"I believe that it will greatly help your designs here. With their concentration on the slaves rather than your... plot. We have a much greater chance of success."

"Thank you, Mr. Syll. I think I shall be visiting your school tomorrow. Please be prepared."

And the image winked out and the cloth rematerialized to cover the artifact. The Seeing Orb was a construct of his own design so that communication over large distances was instantaneous and foolproof. His colleagues hadn't yet come up with such a device. Now though, he needed to extradite this Expatcat. He might come in handy in the future. As an unwitting sower of chaos or a carefully planted, walking bomb, it remained to be seen.

Zerthyn stood up and walked into his Ensorcelling Chamber. Runes all around the room glowed with an eerie light. He began to chant in a sibilant tone. Wisps of ethereal energy coalesced in the center of the room to form an opalescent oval. The milky white mist swirled to form a portal that which a creature may transport from one area to another. The Archmage of Fantasia stepped through the portal right to Expatcat's side ready to aid him in his egress.

Expatcat almost had a heart attack. He had never seen a mage before, so he was hardly ready for a figure to step out of nowhere. Then his memory kicked in and he recognized the archmage, what luck!

The guards were still chasing him to Fantasia though, they couldn't stop now, they HAD to keep moving. Expatcat ran up to the mage, and begged for safekeeping in Fantasia. The only question, would the guard follow him to the city of Peace? If that happened, it would be civil war. Fantasia could not defend itself, and would seek assistance from Fluorspar. Aramantha would pay Astarock for warriors, and Zoormanaar would side with the likely victor. No, he couldnt risk civil war. He had to lose the guard. He turned to the mage in hope of an idea.

Lynn unlocked the door to her house, And threw her worn purse on the aggressively on the couch. "What's wrong?" Said her father. She did not answer and just slammed the door to her room. She layed on her bed trying to sleep, But just kept rolling over, Which kept her awake. She lifted a picture of her mother and threw it against the wall. She then fell asleep.
She keeps waking up throughout the night while having nightmares. She can not seem to recall what happens in these nightmares.

She hears some kind of crackle outside hew window. She gets up to investigate and she spots a shadow just getting around the corner of the house.

She just passes it off as a animal of some type.

Boy was Mining rock. smashing it with his pickaxe. One time, two time, three time. over and over again. when he heard the bell that told him to rest he began to think about his life.

"I got food. I got water. I got work and I got orders what else would I want?", He said out firmly to no one in particular.

"Freedom" said an old man. the man was bold and held the slave tatoo of the learnt. he was muscle less. a slave such as he had differnt jobs to the Boy who held the tatoo of a miner. "Freedom?" the Boy asked. Looking around Boy saw how every slave close enough to hear the old mans words were looking at him. The old man held everyone stare making sure that there attention was on him.

"An idiot caused a riot in the city of Aramantha. This means less slaves will be arriving here and more work for the rest of us", He spat out the word work in disgust and many other slaves spat aswell. "But the idiot has a point. We need to do something about this slavery. we need to head towards freedom. We need to get out of this ****Hole and grab a life for ourselves. and I have a plan", the old man licked his lips at the end of that sentences and as he saw guards approaching the old man left. the small group that had surrounded him also left leaving him alone again.

Expatcat had been correct. The word spread like wildfire of his deeds. Slaves everywhere were beginning to revolt, thinking they had a chance. Were they relying on him?? Ha. He probably couldnt even be considered a noble anymore.

He was sitting at a small campfire, one he made himself. The mage had mysteriously turned the guards away from his path. However, this was Expatcats journey, and he wanted to take it alone. Fantasia was turning about to not be a good idea. There was a high price on his head, and he knew about the scrying mages in Fantasia. They would rat him out in seconds

There was only one way for Expatcat to be welcome back, the same way all outcasts and traitors earned there place back in society. Astarock. He had avoided the thought before, but there was no choice. He had tinkered around with weapons, and his Uncle had made sure he could defend himself. But was he ready for the great Arena? He would have to do fight to the death in order for this to work.

It would be the last thing anyone was expecting. A noble fight?? Unheard of! He had to do it though. He exercised and worked his body into oblivion up until this point, and wasnt planning on stopping until he reached Astarock.

Zerthyn was exhilarated. It had been quite some time since he had been able to use his magics on living targets. Right after he had stepped through the Void to the running man, and after he had moved past the begging stage, he cast several spells incanting words of a most vile sort.

The following guards blood had begun to boil. It was excruciating and their screams were silenced, by a following spell. Any people who would encounter this... mess would be astounded and probably sickened. Either way, the guards were no longer pursuing Expatcat.

He now caught up with the young man, who was sitting by his campfire.

"Expatcat. I know who you are and why you are fleeing. While I can care less for the latter, I care much for the former. I have need of your presence and while you in Fantasia I offer you rest and secrecy. While you are under my protection, none will know of your whereabouts. What say you?"

His eyes sparkled mysteriously in the star light from beyond the flames.

Expatcat thought about it, he thought hard. But it would only delay the problem. And there was something a bit... off about this mage.

"You can follow along if you want, but i have made my decision. I must redeem myself."

It was not simply to gain peoples respect back, it was that he could do nothing for the slaves in his current condition. He could never liberate Zormanaar, which was his ultimate goal.

Of course, Expatcat didnt know that Zormanaar only functions off of its masses of slaves and workers. Freeing the slaves there would cause an economical crash throughout the land, which would lead to the war Expatcat feared most. But, as said before, Expatcat did not know this.

He told the mage about his plan, and his final decision.
