Approximately 80% of the time (that ive found) it is due to a bad connection to your internet or you are attempting to do a half dozen other things at the same time seriously straining your bandwidth.. I know there are exceptions to this but if you are running multiple things at the same time cut it down to one or 2 and performance should improve

This is true. Not the game, but the system. I have 32 bit Vista (eww I know) with 2Gigs RAM, 18Gigs available memory 6 tabs open and very rarely have problems. Run Evony in Google Chrome seamlessly.

I have never had the game lock up and had to 'crash out' of it. That sounds more like a problem at your end.

The only reason I'll crash out is due to my comp being outdated and the fact that my flash is a b****

It can get slow in my experiences, but I think it is due to a crappy computer.

The one thing everyone misses is changing your virtual memory. Everyone thinks that virtual memory is the amount of RAM you have. This is not so, it is a sort of cache that you allow your computer to use in place of memory. If you game at all it is always best to double what the factory preset is.

If anyone does not know how to change your virtual memory, just send me a PM and I can help you. It makes a huge difference with any online games, specifically graphics based games.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Honestly, I think the one thing that everyone misses is that the game flat out has a memory leak.

As I sit here, with the game running in another tab in Internet Explorer, if I open Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, locate iexplore.exe, when viewing the forum tab, the "mem usage" column is relatively stable, but continues to go up a bit. The instant I switch tabs to the tab that has the game running, the mem usage column starts increasing with greater frequency. When I switch back to this reply, the mem usage column stabilizes, and only increases slightly.

That is a memory leak. For those who have the urge now to state that it is because I'm using Internet Explorer, nope, same situation happens in FireFox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari.

The following is one of several links to help developers profile Adobe Flex / Flash applications:

    http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flex_3:Feature_Introductions:_Performance_and_Memo ry_Profiling

What's going on with this thread and others like it are people mashing particular situations together and coming up with a rant, which people then turn around and say "use a different browser" or "update your flash player". Those suggestions might be minimally helpful, but the real help would be if the development staff would utilize the debugging / profiling options in the link that I posted.

This is correct as a profesional game designer myself, the memory leak is obvious. The game requires 200-300mb of free ram to run. This is the same poor programming as in Facebooks Farmville.

Apparently not because i lag out more on my laptop which has 1 gig of ram and 2gigs virtual memory than i do on my desktop which has 512 Mb ram and factory preset Virtual memory and i can be playing 2 different servers at the same time and it runs smoothly
