Default Is Michael Schumacher anything to go by, in 2010

After his successfull career, is he crazy wanting to return to F1 after a couple of years in retirement and will he be as good, as before. He did say, he wanted to leave at the right time, when he was still champion.

I wonder if this latest decision of his, is clever or stupid...

Clever if he wants to race again to get the title back.

Stupid if he does not he should have just remained as the stig from top gear

This belongs to Entertainment, where all things sports are discussed.

I personally think he has nothing to prove, and his neck injury may keep him from doing the best he can anyway. I know F1 is in need of publicity, but this is probably the wrong kind.

Michael Schumacher - It's what he's talented at doing, and it's what he enjoys doing. Whether F1 is better off with him or not really depends on your perspective and how good the guy is coming back. I'm supportive of Schumacher's effort, but he just might not be up to the task anymore. His performance on the track will show that soon enough.

Woohoo... people who know what F1 is. Being an F1 fan in America is very lonely.

F1 is in no need of publicity, Wildor, at least in the UK. The idea of a distraction-free (now w/o girlfriend) Lewis Hamilton versus a determined world champion, Jensen Button, in the same team, will motivate both and entice F1's fan base. We'll see who the truly better driver is, since the cars will be very comparable, and 90% of any difference will be down to each driver's ability to tell their mechanics how the car feels and what it needs. (I think most of us realistically know Lewis is the better driver)

Now throw in arguably the greatest, or at least most successful, Formula 1 driver of all time, who Lewis Hamilton grew up dreaming of racing against, Schumacher, and you have the makings of one of the best seasons in history. Throw into that mix the Red Bull cars who have turned themselves from lego cars a few years ago (bumps = car falls apart), to championship contenders... OMG, I can't freakin' wait.

As for Schumacher's chances.... I expect him to take 4 or 5 races to get back to typical form (rebuild neck muscles), before he starts to make everyone scratch their heads and wonder how he gets his car to perform as it does, when his teammate is languishing 10 positions behind him. Schumacher was one of the fittest men in sport. His conditioning was legendary. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of him as a person... I think his ethics have been highly questionable several times, at least twice resulting in a stolen championship... but I can't deny his talent. Chance of winning the title... 35%. Chance of being in the top 5... 80%. That's pretty good for an old guy (comparatively) coming out of retirement.

I'm not discounting Alonso, either. He's arguably the second most naturally talented driver on the 2010 calendar. Give him a good car this year, and he'll challenge every driver I've mentioned. Vettel is no slouch either... he's maturing beautifully and this could be his year.

The two best wet racing drivers I've ever seen... have to be Schumacher, and Lewis. IMO, no-one else is even in their league. Bring on the 2010 calendar, and bring the rain. Its gonna be...

    AWESOME

He was only the stig in that episode. He was the only driver who was allowed to drive the Ferrari ffx.
